It is really good that you're taking classes and are taking that step to recovery. It's also good that you're here sharing that information with us and maybe it will help someone else. I have been reading through the forum and there is a good group of people here.
I'm sober but...

I am clean and sober but there is always that little voice in the back of my head that could ruin it all. All the hard work and sacrifice of not only myself but everyone that help me through it all. I believe I'll be able to remain clean for the rest of my life but it's always there in the back of my head.

Credit cards have a high interest rate compared to banks. Shouldn't credit card companies be forced to make their rates comparable to banks? If consumers weren't so addicted to credit cards the companies might lower the rates but the way it is and so many people in debt they are raking in the profits because they know they can.

More and more people are doing it now but it's not just younger people. Credit card companies know the weaknesses of the public and how they enjoy having nice things even if they can't afford them.

You need to remove the credit and debit cards from your possession and just keep a small amount of cash they you'll need each day. Set a budget that you'll follow so you won't overspend. Have a garage sale for all the stuff you don't use or need and use it to pay off any debts you have.

Buying on credit is the worse thing anyone can do. They end up paying way more for the pitems than they are worth through interest charges. Cutting them up is the best thing to do!

That's a really bad sign of a problem. It's a total waste buying things that don't fit or you'll never use. Tere are a lot of people that but because it's on sale. Tell your friend she needs to go through everything she doesn't use and have a sale and then STOP what she is doing.

I agree it's a little bit of everything. I know it's just one bad choice from going down the drain and I do my best to keep the voice in the back of my head at bay. I keep busy with everything else positive in my life.

Of course I am worried about going back to those ways. Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic even after being sober for 5, 10, 20, 30 years. You're always one drink away from falling back into the trap.

You just ahve to be there for your kids and get them involved in other things that will keep them busy. Sign them up for sports or dance or music or anything that interests them. Do family things together. Talk to them and let them know that you are there if they ever need to talk.

I don't look to the future that often with regards to any addiction issues. I have always focused on today and I live for today on most things. Of course things like appointments or business dealings have to be looked on into the future but on other things it's today only.
Try walking or exercise

Sometimes just a little bit of walking or exercise will help you with insomnia and get you tired enough to want to sleep. Try not to eat or drink anything with caffeine several hours before bed. Find something that will get your mind in a relaxed state before bed like listening to soft music while having a warm bath.

Sure I'm past the hard part but it will always be in the back of my head. I know I'll be strong enough to fight it but that voice is always going to be there.
