A couple of boys from Easton were shot by police after a robbery in Mansfield. David Semenza is only 20 years old and was shot and killed by the police after police pulled over the car he was in because it matched the description of a robbery getaway car. Semenza acted in a “threatening manner” and appeared to be grabbing for a gun when police shot him, police say. The driver of the car was 21 year old George Moore who was arrested without incident. Moore’s mother explained that she believes the robbery was fueled by both boys’ addiction to heroin. “He’s stolen all my jewelry and sold TVs out of my house,” said the emotional mom this morning.

Robert Downey Jr. blames his role in the movie Less Than Zero for aiding his drug addiction. He says that he took drugs recreationally before he was casted as a cocaine addict in the 1987 film. After completing the movie, his substance abuse problem worsened and he was even jailed at California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison, Corcoran for a year because he missed mandatory court-imposed drug tests. He says, "Until that movie I took my drugs after work and on the weekends. That changed on Less Than Zero. The role was like the ghost of Christmas Future. I became an exaggeration of the character."

An 84-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment after her neighbor who was high on cocaine stabbed her 40 times because she wouldn’t give him more than $20! Wow..Alice Palmer had previously gone to her apartment manager complaining about 46-year-old Darryl Walker.  The manager simply told her to just keep her doors locked, not let him in and if he is insistent call the police, however, the next day when he knocked she let him in and gave him $20. That wasn’t enough for Walker; he needed more money for his drug addiction so when Palmer refused to give him more he murdered her. Walker was sentenced to life in prison without parole for 40 years. "I was out of my mind," said Walker, 46, as he turned to face Palmer's family in Summit County Common Pleas Court. "This drug took my life over. I'm very sorry. Please forgive me." It seems like when people are so addicted to something their whole personality changes and it makes them someone they aren’t. I’m not saying that’s an excuse to kill someone, but it’s just so sad.

The laws are going to start making it a requirement that cigarette companies start making cigarettes that go out if dropped or set aside. This is already mandatory in Delaware, Iowa, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas, but they want to expand it to 32 states in 09. I guess this is a good thing. I wonder how many fires are actually started from cigarettes though?
