I guess its verging on addiction but I think more obsession than addiction, the word addiction does not feel right, I'm pretty obsessed with checking mail but that may well be that as my job is IT and work issues are related to me by mail giving that 'must read mail' feeling

In the UK we have more than our fair share of soap operas, the two biggest being EastEnders and Coronation street, I do not know if you have herad of them or not.. Certianly they are complusive viewing and for the past 20 years plus I have watched both. If I miss them in the wee there is always the sunday omnibus... Missing either or both is very frustrating and I'm concsious that they are on when I am out and about

As you can see I am new to your site, I having been using several dozens or hundreds of fourms and I have found that with new forums the few catagories the better, then as the number of posts and threads reaches a certain level then split them out in new or sub catagories, it can be slighly off putting to new potential users to see loads of catagories but very few threads, just a suggestion

At long last after more than 25 years I have broken the stranglehold of smoking, its bloody hard work but it is getting easier, what worries me is the thought of relapse... I love going to the pub but pub = smoking. But I want to see my friends and that where they hang out

Any tips or advice please?

When it comes to sayings and inspirations for me with my stopping smoking it really was a case of

"One step at a time"

Its the only way it can be approached

Sorry admin, only me again

It would be good to have a genral section where board users can talk generally to get to know each other in other aspects of thier lives not just in the sense of addiction.

thanks

It must be really hard for you imtom to have the one you love abuse you in such a way. When things are on a normal keel in your everyday relationship do you discuss your feelings to her about her actions and tell her how much it hurts you when she swears and lashes out?

Formaldehyde - - used to preserve dead bodies.

No wonder I used to feel so rough after going out for a few beers and a couple of packs of smokes

Are all these chemical occuring naturally in Tobacco or ar ethe all added by man for 'flavour'?

One of the multiple bebfits of course of stopping smoking is the extra money it puts into your pocket, with prices as they are in the UK it equates to $300 a month, put the money aside - save it up and buy yourself somethnig good every six months, you deserve it!

What do you think the main cause for a relapse is? I know there are many and various but I believe that
arguing small or ridiculous points of view indicate a need to always be right. Basically looking for an excuse to go back to using. - You pick a fight with a loved on on purpose

I don't think its an addiction my 12 year old boy is the same, you shout him for dinner her does not hear, you tell him to do his chores, they don't happen - however when he is not on his PC he is a model son, having spoken to the moms and pops of his friends he and you are the normal I believe -

However you are aware now, keep your eyes open and maybe suggest to your folks that impose a limit on you if you are worried

First step is to define a time and place when you are to stop your addiction make sure that the time you specify is a time that is not a pressured time, going for a new job, exam time, domestic problems etc

My mum was taken very suddenly from us and she was the focal point of our family, you do get over it though and you do move on.

At long last the smoking ban in the UK comes into force on July 1st, I never thought in my lifetime that this would come to pass .

Is this an incentive to give up, or better still an incentive not to start?

Is it actually possible to become addicted to Television in the true meaning of the word? This is how I see the meaning of the word addiction

Strong emotional and /or psychological dependence that has progressed beyond voluntary control.

What do you reckon?

My kids can be the same its certainly not only you who have this predicament, but I don't think the computer is actually dangerous as you intimate, what you need to is to break your routine thats all, instead of going striaght home from school go to a friends house or go to the park and hang out there

Its a tough call, its like the folk who are into battle re-enactement and get all gear made up and wifes who become camp followers - personally I would come down on the side of 'NO'

Flying

For years I had issues with flying and it was a mega freak out for me to fly, my only option was to get plastered or take Valium before flying... A new job (my current one) came along and it involves a fair bit of travel - I became de-sensistised, now I still do not enjoy flying but its certainly better ad I no longer drink etc before flying.

Has anyone else overcome thier fear of flying and what did they do (as I said mine was an enforced overcoming)
