Around 73 people died in the southern part of India because of contaminated alcohol during the weekend. They arrested 8 people for selling homemade molasses-based drinks. This alcohol related accidents caused many deaths because the victims are too poor for the right treatment.

Did you know that Kristin Davis aka Charlotte from the show Sex and the City was an alcoholic? "I get sent many a Cosmo," she says, referring to the cranberry-spiked drink that became a female cocktail staple thanks to the show. But no matter how many free drinks get thrown her way, Davis has the power to say no. "I never drink them ... Why risk it?" That's amazing, I had no idea she had a problem with alcohol. I wonder if it has to do with the show??? I think it's good to see someone like her be successful in recovery because of the character she played in the show.

That's so much money! People should donate it to a charity instead of just throwing it all away. I couldn't imagine having that much and losing it so fast.

I read this. It didn't happen in this country though right? I don't think you should just get away with something just because you are addicted to drugs. The law is the law and you broke it when you start using. They should have to go to a rehab facility and repay their debts.

Salty Foods!

For all you Denny breakfast lovers, did you know that their ham slices have 1,700 mg sodium! Yikes! The salties soup is from Baja Fresh. Their Tortilla Soup has 2,760 mg of sodium. That is more than your daily serving of salt in that one meal. Like Chinese food? Rethink this before you order at P.F. Changs. Their beef with brocolli has 3,752 mg of sodium and 1,120 calories!!! I don't even really think about the amount of salt I eat every day, but maybe it's a good idea that I do. Even in foods that sound healthy, there can be a lot.

I just finished reading an article from a doctor who agreed that smoking hookah is just as bad as cigarettes. He said that during a one hour session of smoking hookah, the user is exposed to 100-200X the amount of smoke inhaled from 1 cigarette!!! WOW!! People think that the water filters the tobacco, but that isn’t the case… read this article, it’s interesting. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hookah/AN01265

Yeah, people may be mad, but I think they are just trying to look out for their community. I think it kind of looks bad on the cities part if they encourage/allow that to happen. The summer is such a crazy time for parties and stuff and I think in a result they are kind of the cities fault for letting it happen. I wonder if they will see a decrease in alcohol related accidents/crime because of this decision.

I just read a story about a loved family dr losing everything he ever worked for because of his gambling addiction. A relative said: 'It's been a nightmare. Rachel found out by default when she opened some post by mistake and discovered a loan taken out in their joint names. Up until that point, she had no idea he had a gambling habit. He was a GP and respected member of the community.'

Here are some signs I found online if you think you may have this:
1. You check your email more than once an hour, even when you aren't on the clock
2. You look at every message that comes in, as it comes in, either at or away from your office
3. You feel the need to respond to messages instantly or within minutes of when they arrive
4. You interrupt real, in-person activities on a regular basis to deal with an email
5. Email has interfered with your regular life. Ex. sleep loss, relationship troubles, stress or any other noticle effect.
