Sports related eating disorders

Athletes are also prone to eating disorders during seasons and also off season to maintian physique, on and off the field. Wrestlers in paricular battle dieting throughout the season, constantly counting calories and stressing over each ounce gained. In the long term, when athletes are done with competing, many feel the need to maintain their former physique and struggle keeping up with their old training regimes.

My older brother used to be a wrestler and was always forced to stay thin. Wrestlers almost always compete in a weight class lower than their actual weight because they're usually stronger than the others in that class who wrestle at their normal weight. My brother dieted and weight up and down the scale for nearly 9 years and was really never at his ideal weight. Now that he's able to eat whatever he wants, his body isn't equipped for eating regular meals. He wants to eat regular meals, but I think his body developed an eating disorder because for so long he was scared to gain weight in fear of not being abe to compete.

He has a great body and is extremely built, but he feels like he's out of shape and sometimes says that he's fat. I'm wondering if many athletes suffer from eating disorders in relation to the perfect body type for that sport. Many athletes aren't able to adjust to a normal lifestyle after they're done competing.
Finding out about parents drug use

I live with my mom and brother and my family has had a history of drug use, except for my mom. My brother has been smoking pot for a few years now and I'm trying to talk to him about quitting and he's slowly but surely coming around so I'm not so worried anymore. Addiction broke up my family and I still have many scars from my dads alcoholism.

Yesterday my mom and my brother and I were at the dinner table just chatting. My mom was at a training this past week and she just got back so we were all catching up. Out of nowhere my mom said hey, who took my pipe? I figured she had found one of my brothers from a long time ago and confiscated it. I don't do any drugs and I said that I didn't know what she was talking about and told her it wasn't mine and my brother said he took it. It was a little funny to me because I was completely innocent and my brother was finally caught.

Out of nowhere my mom said to put it back because she uses it. I was half shocked and confused becuase my mom was always the one who got us in trouble for stuff like that and she was always perfect. And at this point I still thought she was joking. I had this sorrow set in because I had a totally different view on my mom. She thought that I knew, but honestly I had no idea. She was so casual about it and said I thought you knew, only talking to me, that she'd been doing it every week for a year. She said that it helped her sleep better. I started balling and her and my brother felt really bad about it. She swore she wouldn't do it anymore and that she wasn't addicted to it and I said I forgave her for it but I'm still really mad about it. Parents are suposed to be role models and not bring that stuff in the house. I don't know what to think anymore, I feel like I can't trust anyone anymore.

It's really hard when all of your friends are involved in drug use. I'd recommend going to rehab support groups to talk about your recovery. Making new, sober friends will help you a lot also and people on his site are here for you. It's hard saying no to your friends even though your used to having so much fun with them, but everyone has to quit sometime and the sooner the better!
Gambling IS DEADLY!

A man in Southern China appeared to have died of exhaustion after a three-day Internet gambling binge. The 30-year-old man fainted at a cyber cafe in the city of Gaungzhou Saturday afternoon after he had been playing games online for three days. The man was declared dead at the cafe after paramedics attempted to revive him at the scene.

Apparently nearly 100 internet users who had witnessed the death fled the cafe. China has approximatley 140 million Internet users, second only to the U.S.

With the online gaming market larger than ever before, gambling addiction is rapidly increasing. Hopefully this story will scare even more people from gambling, which is in fact deadly!
Meth more popular among women

Meth users come from a variety of age groups, lifestyles and communities. Though, recent research shows that females make up a higher percentage of users. The impact of meth is devastating on the user and their family members. Meth has proven to be one of the most addictive street drugs.

The sad part about this research is now that more women than men are using meth, it means that infants are suffering from meth addiction soon after they're born. It often leaves the families devastated and the damage on children sometimes leaves them deformed with motor problems, eye problems and other psychosocial risk problems.

October is meth awareness month and hopefully community members throughout the nation can gain an understanding about the harsh affects of meth. Especially for the children it's truly unfair for them to suffer through their lifetime because of the mistakes of their parents.
