has anyone else heard all this hype about facebook. apparently a party invite was set for the 4th of july weekend in a small town where 10000 people are expected to show! police are worried that that big of a crowd will ruin their town so they are banning alcohol sales for that weekend (which of course is bad for the stores). thats a grip of people though and too hard to control. the invite says “In order for this to work we need everyone to tell all your friends, book the night off, wait for the exact location to be revealed, then head on down with as much alcohol/music as you can afford, and if your hard core a tent might come in handy." according to what i read this isnt the first time parties have happened in this manner...

we all know that when there is a 3 day weekend alcohol related incidents are one the rise. this year for the 4th of july in minnesota, 8000 more officers will be working the weekend. the increase of safety is costing $500,000 which will be paid by federal grants. the state is also spending $250,000 on media ads to try and reduce driving fatalities. hopefully with all they are doing they will see a result in their efforts.

kind of good news...anheuser-busch is taking their drinks like this off the market. some companies are not willing to cave in like miller brewing co. i think that once one company does it, more will follow because they have been watched for quite a while now.

a survey conducted of 54000 people from 17 different countries found that the US takes the lead in drug use. it found that 16% of the people used cocaine in their lifetime which new zealand was 2nd with 4.3%. also 74% said they have used tobacco. "Alcohol use by age 15 years was far more common in European countries than in the Middle East and Africa," they wrote. By the age of 21, up to 99 percent of Europeans, 92 percent of Japanese, 94 percent of New Zealanders and 93 percent of people in the Americas had tasted alcohol. Estimates were lower in the Middle East and Africa (40 percent to 63 percent)" the researchers wrote…in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and New Zealand, more than 60 percent of young people had started to drink by age 15 years," they added.

Mando Ramos died this Sunday because of natural causes said his wife. "Who knows how good I could have been?" he once told The Times. "I never really trained, not for a single fight. Oh, I went to the gym every day. But I drank every night. Fighters never beat me. But drugs and alcohol [did]. He struggled with drugs and alcohol, but spent his last years helping kids avoid the substances.

i came across a site that had useful info on it. there are site veterans can go to to seek help with PTSD. there are also books like "iraq never leaves us: ptsd and my life". maybe those are helpful for returning soldiers.

i was at lunch with my buddy a week ago and i have noticed his need for alcohol in his life. he drinks wine every night with his other friend and together they would drink one bottle. if he wants to drink a couple nights a week then that is fine, but enough was enough. so at lunch i just kind of bluntly said you need to cut back on your drinking man. he at first thought i was kidding, but i wasnt. i care about the guy and i dont want to see him get in worse shape. i think addiction can start out small and eventually take over your whole life. i think after our talk he was glad i said something to show him that i care enough to bring it up.

purpley-i have heard of this medicine doing that to people, but i havent heard an actual story before. i guess for his sake it might be hard to prove that the medicine did in fact get him addicted to gambling. i wonder how the hearing will go..i hope in a way he will win so they see what their medicine is doing to people and maybe they could alter the drug to not have that affect on people.

agreed. i'm a guy and i dont look at it and as far as i know neither do most of my friends. i remember in intermediate school tho it was considered cool and risky to look at it. but then i grew up and dont care what others think is cool.

are you parents concerned or care about how much tv they watch? try bringing it up with them and when i was little we would have family meetings to talk about problems that are going on in the house. you shouldnt have to live miserably and neither should they. try and find a middle ground and if that doesnt work disconnect the tv haha
