Yeah I agree, it just depends on the person's attitude and if they really do want to quit. I personally think it's best just to quit cold turkey because then you can just look forward and forget about your addiction. That worked for me pretty good, I used to smoke like a chimney, and then one day my mom went totally balistic on me and convinced me to quit and that it's an ugly habit. So ever since then, I just keep reminding myself of what she said and how it made me feel and its helped deal with cravings.

I think you should ask him why he lied to you in the first place. Maybe he's just not the boy you thought he was. I was with my man for three years and he'd go months lying to me, then he'd quit, and I'd start finding out about the lies he's told me in the past. It's just one big cycle, I couldn't stand it! Once a liar, always a liar, that's what I say!

A friend of mine recently graduated from an in-patient rehabilitation program and he's been away from home for over two years. He's healthier than ever and I really don't believe that he'll go back to using because he's already changed so much and he's completely sober. He'll be going home for good in a few weeks, but will still be actively involved in the program. So leaving home for him definitley worked and I think he's in good enough shape to go back home. :))

Playing card games can be just as exciting, just without betting your whole walet! Or maybe using Monopoly money could add some extra fun, or like making a family game night so that you can win prizes. If you take all of the dangerous things out of gambling like going into debt, losing you house, and family over an addiction, just playing poker and blackjack can be fun and not addictive. I think just like any addiction, you have to have a support group to really keep you away from the Casinos for good.
Using Virtual Reality to Fight Drug Addiction

Professor Zach Rosenthal has developed a virtual world aimed at triggering drug cravings for recovering addicts. Once the addict comes across a situation, and a craving is onset, then Rosenthal can help them work through it and teach them how to manage their cravings. What they’re trying to do is take people into a virtual crack-related neighborhood or crack-related setting and have them experience cravings just like the real world. Based on that idea, addictions are learned as well as biological behaviors, the therapist walks the addict through the experience until a craving is triggered and helps the addict overcome it.

Some participants say the program has done wonders for them. It helps them learn that they don’t have to give into every craving and that they can manage their addiction, at least until the fall out of the program.
