Jail Time

A 31-year old man who was driving with a blood-alcohol level of 4x the legal limit was sentenced to 22 years in prison because of a car accident that killed a 66-year-old woman. Prosecutors say the drivers level was at .32% and has had a previous conviction in Pennsylvania for aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence. It seems like it's always the innocent people who get killed and hurt instead of the person who is responsible for the damage.

I didn't really know what section to post this in, so I hope it fits in here. I live in CA and if any of you watch the news you probably have heard about that shooting at the high school by the police officer. If not here is a short version: there was a 17-year-old sophomore who beat a police officer with a baseball bat. The officer fell to the ground and went for his gun and the clip fell out! So he went for the gun on his ancle, shot the teen one time and he died. While the officer was on the ground, the kid kept yelling, "Go ahead shoot me" The teen had messed with the bat to make it more of a weapon and during the investigation police found a 8 inch knife on the him. He was on anti depressants and has had trouble with the law before. I think the teen wanted to die and did it on purpose. The pd is getting a lot of beef about it, but I think the officer did the right thing. I think that teens on anti depressants should have to see their dr. more often or a pychologist since many times it can made you suicidal.

Me too! I just had a conversation about YouTube the other day. It can become soo addicting to watch videos that you couldn't see on TV and you control when you want to watch them. I also use them in presentations at school to show whatever subject I'm talking about. It's a great tool, but it can be dangerous!

My dad drinks about the much each day, if not more! He drinks coffee more than any other drink and from the time when he wakes up until he goes to bed! It's crazy how much he drinks. I never thought of how much damage that could be doing to his health. Do you drink regular coffee all the time or sometimes decaf? I like coffee too, but I don't drink that much. I really like the fancy fraps at Starbucks, which aren't good for you at all, but they taste great in the summer when it's warm outside.

I think just keep telling him how much he means to you and how you want a future together and him not dying early. I think people who try to quit their addiction need all the love and support they can get from their loved ones. If his friends are going to continue to smoke though, that is a problem because he will always be tempted whenever they are around each other. Does he even want to try the patch or anything because at least with those types of products he is still get the nicotine each day, but the dosage gets smaller and smaller? My dad's girlfriend tried to quit and was going to the doctor to get things to help her, but since my dad smokes she could never quit. It's a tough situation.

I was just reading something on depression and college students. There are many feeling experienced throughout college that causes depression. For some students moving out of their parent's house into dorms or an apartment can cause depression because of money and being on your own. Other things can cause depression too like studying and stressing over classes and tests. I fall into the category more. I feel so overwhelmed with homework, tests and tests on top of classes for graduation and future programs. UGH!!

Oh, I know what you're saying. People need to be careful with their money and any sort of gambling that they do. It's so easy to become obsessive when you start even winning a little bit. Did you hear about that church in NY who was given 3mil from someone who played a ten dollar scratch lotto ticket? Someone won the money and gave every single penny to a church. Kind of funny if you think about it..the church accepted money that was awarded with gambling....

How come we feel the urge so bad to get on and check daily? I mean I found myself on Christmas Day on my profiles to see what people were up to and look at new pictures. I really just want to get rid of it all, but like all of you I can't get myself to do it.

My old neighbor used to collect things for cars. He remodeled them and would collect the parts for cars even if he didn't need them. It got so bad that he had to keep it from his wife and would have the shipments mailed to his work address so she didn't know what he was buying. One day his wife went into the garage to get something and noticed all these empty collapsed boxes so she confronted her husband about it. He tried denying it, but it was too late she already knew what he was up to. She made him go to counseling and it seemed to really help both of them.

I think he has come up with a plan that takes them out in like 17 months I want to say.. I'm not quite sure though. I think it's gradual, I don't think he's just going to take them out randomly one day.

I think it can be hard for people to find exactly works for them. I personally don't care which method is used as long as it's safe and works for that person.

Yeah, I think people who smoke cigars get mouth cancer and people who smoke cigarettes are more likely to get lung cancer because it's inhaled. I always thought that cigars had more tobacco and cigarettes have more nicotine. Even though the cigar may actually have more nicotine in it, it may because of the size and I don't really know too many people who just sit there and smoke the cigar until it's out. My friends just smoke what they want and then put it out and save it for another time.
