Methadone Addiction

I just recently read a news story about the effects of methadone. A man had been addicted to heroin for 15 years and had quit cold turkey three times. But in the 10 years of using Methadone, he's never been able to quit. He once landed in jail and had to do 72 hours of jailtime before he could see the judge. He described the whole experience consisting of him on the floor screaming his guts out because of his withdrawals. About 12 hours before he was to see the judge, he demanded to go to the hospital and after seeing a doctor on account of his condition, he was curled up and couldn't move his legs, the doctor gave him a shot of methadone and the effect was instantaneous.
He returned to the precint 2 days later and was in the same condition. He says that he could never quit methadone because the intensity of withdrawals is too much.
It seems like Methadone treatment is just filling one addiction with another and many people believe they cannot physically quit because of the withdrawals. I may only be hearing one side of the story, but it's becoming apparent that Methadone isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I've been in this situation a few times. You just have to find what makes you feel good, becoming sober means finding a new you. What saved me was reading self help books, rewatching all my old favorite movies, finding my favorite shows to watch, shopping for tasteful clothes, and trying to get healthy through cooking, eating healthy, and I got a gym membership.
Also it helps to have a strong support to help you through times when it really gets hard. What got me through was redeveloping my relationships through sobriety and becoming closer with family.
Meth related anxiety

A friend of mine is slowly overcoming a meth addiction. In the past, meth made her very timid, secretive, and she seemed very unsure of herself when she was not on it. It nearly tore her apart, she is now living in a half way house, which was court ordered because her addiction got so bad.
To my knowledge, she is not using it but still has some symptoms of a meth abuser. Her memory has suffered a lot and she can't recall many of the people she's met. I fear she's developed a mental disorder becuase she always thinks her family and friends are lying to her or are secretive about her. I can't understand a lot of her behavior but I fear that one day her personality will somehow deteriorate and I will lose my friend completley. Are there solutions to methanphetamine mental disorders?

Many girls prefer to basically starve themselves to look thin, instead of living healthy and choosing to have curves and such. Though, many guys feed into the Hollywood image and prefer their girls to fit in with fads and look like models and appear extremely thin. So, I'm wondering if most guy prefer their significant other to diet and try hard to live thin, or instead to be healthy and instead be a little on the thicker side or just not stick thin? I hope I didn't offend anyone, I'm just curious about typical boyfriend preferences?

I've always heard crazy ways to help cure addictions, but meditation may actually be effective for those who smoke. Researchers found that a half-year exposure to meditation techniques helped patients shave as much as one third of their psychological distress. In particular, it seems to have a positive impact on the psychological symptoms of patients with conditions such as anxiety disorders, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, cancer and multiple sclerosis. Some of the subjects in the research said that they felt fewer urges to smoke and overall had a better conception on quitting their addiction to cigarettes.

Those struggling with addiction in their lives and need some extra support, it may be helpful to seek direct advice from an elder who's also struggled with addiction and has overcome it. A lot of times the whole concept of quitting a substance that you're completely dependant on, can be overwhelming.
Rocker Pete Dohetry, who is currently addicted to crystal meth and heroin, recently met with Paul McCartney. They talked about Pete's drug addiction and how he was through with drugs and promised that he was serious about getting clean.
Sometimes watching somone you idolize remain successful, it's beneficial to have them as a role model for addiction.
