That is very weird for me to read because I was always told that Marijuana was not as bad for you as cigarettes are I had a teacher talking to us about how they thought it was funny that cigarettes are legal but Marijuana isn't because cigarettes are far more unhealthy than Marijuana. I don't think either one should be legal, but I don't think cigarettes will ever be made illegal because of all the money the government gets from sales.

That is very similar to what happened to a family member of mine. He injured, I want to say his neck but it might have been his knee...he has had so many injuries I can't keep them straight haha (he was an athlete before this), but he was prescribed pain killer medication for the injury and became dependent on them and his addiction to these pain killers are ruining his life. Its sad, but very common.

I don't think that if you have an alcoholic for a father or mother, that you will definately become an alcoholic. I think that if you have an alcoholic parent that you are MORE likely to become an alcoholic because it is what you were raised around and what you know.

Some people cannot limit themselves though, and that is why they are addicted. I used to spend all day on the computer until I was in a situation where there was no possible way for me to, and then I got to where I didn't HAVE to be on the computer to keep myself entertained, I found other methods.

I don't think that children should be completely taken away from their birth parents for any reason other than the birth parents are harmful to the child. I think that if, both parents are addicts then someone else should have custody of the children but the parents should still be able to have contact with the children, however only when they are sober.
A friend of mine is an alcoholic and though he has never hurt his daughter in anyway, he is not allowed to see her even with supervised visits and that is wrong.

The article has expired but you should check out johntitor.com it is pretty interesting. It is a guy who claims he is from 2036 and they have created a time machine and he was saying a lot of stuff that really got you thinking. It's 99.9% most likely a hoax, but a very clever one, worth the read :)
