It is hard to say which comes first, the depression or the addiction. If someone's life were going great, would they start an addiction? Or would they become depressed if they weren't addicted? I think it goes hand in hand

It's good to recognize the fact that with an alcoholic parent and siblings that you might want to join a forum such as this. Ask questions and get involved. We are all learning.

I think that a forum also gives those that want a sense of secrecy about their problem the ability to talk to strangers and be honest. Sometimes our own family and friends do us more harm than good.

We are all led to places at times in our lives to give back what we have been given. Sometimes we can lead and other times we have to be led. It sounds like this is your time to lead. Enjoy.

The most crucial thing this girl needs to do is take care of herself. Go to college. Get an education. Get your life going and not worry about what he is doing. Thank is his problem. You are not his keeper. Take care of you.

This is where your support team can help. You support team may be this forum, your counselors, family, etc but they are important. Talk with someone when things bug you. Get it out of your system.

Most of us don't even have a clue what the real problem is. We are so busy running from it that we have never turned around to look at it to see if it is scary. Get professional help.

I think you can be addictied to just about anything if you let it become an obsessive.

Drugs are drugs. Prescription drugs, and over the counter drugs have the potential for being abused.

Well there is caffiene, so yes it is a drug. Tea does as well.

Most I ever did was smoke a little weed, and dropped some acid. 3 times Thats about it. I guess I am kind of boring.

While I agree that you should see a doctor, I do not agree that you are necessarily addicted to painkillers. Your migraines could be a symptom of something else. Pain is often a symptom, not a reaction.

I agree. Your friends are not very good frineds if you are using becuase of them. You are better off without them.

I hate to say this but saying you are using drugs "because of my friends" is just a cop out. You are the one who is in control unless your "friends" put a gun to your head and literally forced you to do drugs.
