I'm like you. I still love to party but I also limit myself. My best friend from high school and me started drinking in high school, but now in college she drinks herself into a stupor daily while I usually limit mine to weekends. I hope she grows out of it one day. And I think we all will too. We are still young , so I say party but do it responsibly.

I love the part about Ozzy Osbourne never being a spokesperson. Just goes to show what drugs can do to the brain.

She is young and sounds lots like my neices. I would just keep being strong about limiting her television time. Kids are really resilient at that age.

It they refuse to quit, then get them in rehab. There is many debates about marijuana and whether it should be legalized, but as of now it is is illegal and not only are they running health risks, but legal risks as well. You may even be running legal risks if you know they are smoking and not getting them help.

If someone lost their life savings at poker gambling, yet wants to still go back and bet more for the "big win", would you consider that an addict or someone just wanting to get his money back ?

Yeah, how about stop shopping ? Seriously though, I love shopping too and new clothes always make me feel better, but I just try to budget myself. I never spend what I don't have. If you do, then you may be a shopping addict.

Also get lots of gum and cinnamon sticks. When you feel the urge to smoke, just grab some gum. I have heard quitting cold turkey is the hardest way to quit, but it is also the fastest way to get through the withdrawal.

Is he drinking an entire case by himself in one setting? I would think that that is a bit much. Sounds to me just based on what you said that he does have a problem with alcohol, but he doesn't want to admit it or he is in denial. That is an awful lot to consume at one time, if that is what he is doing.

There must be a way to report suspected drunk drivers if your working at a
company which prohibits you from reporting such suspected activity. I know
some companies which forbid their employees from reporting someone
suspected of being intoxicated and driving off the premises. The fear of a
lawsuit overrides everything.

What can you do?

What kind of companies would forbid this and why? This is something I've never heard of before. I guess the best thing to do in a situation like this is what someone already said. Call in an anonymous tip.
Do you drink to get wasted ?

I've read before that a big sign of alcoholism is drinking just to get completely smashed. There are some that have a few social drinks and then stop when they are a little buzzed. How many people drink to get wasted, and does that mean thats a sign of alcoholism? This also goes to the people that used to drink until they realized they were alcoholics and quit.

Unfortunately, those who are associated with those who have addictions often enable them. I know that it is not easy to deal with. I read a very good book when I was taking classes in rehabiltation counseling. It was called "Codependent No More" by Melody Beattie. She has some other excellent addiction books to read also that deals with codependence.

I think it is so hard not to enable because no matter had badly you want someone to quit, they will only do it when THEY want to do it. Many people just simply give up and just hope one day things will get better.

I know that the past several years or so the US Centers for Disease Control blamed teenage smoking on movies, but because of some kind of infringment act it was never banned. The cigarette companies don't care. They are happy to be making all that extra money even at the cost of teens and kids.

I think this area fits this topic, several kids are addicted to video games nowadays, there are plenty of them. I can only remember playing atari and almost nobody had it, 'the times, they are changing..."(bob dylan)

Nowadays, everywhere you look there is an advertisement for video games. If it not a handheld or a console, then it is games for the pc. I think it makes kids lazy. I mean I am bashing video games, but I think they have become overkill. Not to mention that the prices seem to get higher and higher too.

One of my neiboughrs just chose a package that contains some pornografic channels that are rulled during daytime, she has a young boy 14 years old , and she is most of the time away to work so she catched him wathing the xxx stuff on tv many times now , he won't stop, do you find this a problem? I think 14 years old's should not watch this kind of stuff it might become an addiction. I taught the lady to lock those channels just in case.

He won't stop watching ? That right there says to me he already has a problem. He should have never had access in the first place. That is much too young of an age to be exposed to things like that. He has his entire adulthood to see things like that. I don't think kids at that age can handly it maturely.

Do you think it can?
I think it does, sometimes people become more sad or happier after they watch TV, some people can even become angry, what are your thoughts?

It 100% can, but it also depends on the person. Kids for example, are probably the most susceptible to this. For example, my cousin watched "Fast and Furious" and was so pumped up and excited about the movie that he went out looking for a race to get into. Another friend of mine watched some movie about breaking up, and after crying for a few hours, finally got the nerve up to dump her now ex. So yes, t.v. and movies definitely effect moods.

Seen many of this cases happens lindsay lohan being the latest and we know there are still many more? why would they waste there life where they are living everyone fantasy? fame, fortune, friends? why? are there any people who do work to get them destroyed?

Lindsay Lohan went through a lot of personal things in her life along with pressures of being a kid star, and I guess she just couldn't handle it. I personally think its a load of junk. I would love to have the money and the career that she has. I think people need to come down harder on celebrities. They are pampered enough as is. If a poor person pull some of the things that she has, you can bet they's still be sitting in jail right now.

I think many people think this way because of the low percentage rate. However, it is certainly NOT impossible. There are success stories every single day, whether it be a celebrity or not. People should focus more on the chances of recovering instead of the chances of NOT recovering.

Yes, it very well can be on the onset of a panic disorder. How long did it last ? Most panick attacks usually last no more than 10 minutes and the symptoms are shortness of breath, hyperventilating, feeling as if you can't breathe, lightheadedness, and a feeling that you are losing control. I would most definitely inform my doctor if something like happens again.

Whenever I am in a car with younger adults of about the age of 20-25 I get really panicky. I cannot sit still and I need the air on full blast. I do not know why I am like this...any ideas??

Did you ever have an experience with a younger person driving that was maybe really dangerous ? You could have buried deep in your subconscious and it comes forth by making you feel this way. Or maybe you just don't feel safe with people who haven't driven that long with your life basically in your hands. I would ask a doctor for sure before it gets any worse.

That's a good question. I would be interested to know as well. I am not too sure, but I would think that it would be just as hard for both men and women, but I am not too certain. What factors would make it harder for men as opposed to women ?

And it wasn't just ONE dog that Vick killed. There were several found buried. I feel no sympathy for Vick. He gets what he deserves. Besides, he never gave the Falcons a Superbowl win like he kept promising !

Yes, he died in front of The Viper Room, which is a night club Johnny Depp used to own out in California. He had way too many drugs in his system and he went into convulsions. If anyone doesn't remember him, his most popular movie was " Stand By Me".

Anytime there is illegal drug use, there is always a reason for concern. Drugs are so powerful that someone could get addicted even the first time they try it, and in the worst case scenario, could even die. If I were you, I would not participate in this "special occasion".

If you cannot do it cold turkey, then of course Nicorette is better than cigarettes. It may easy the harsh symptoms but at the same time it may prolong with withdrawal. Good luck in whatever you decided and keep us updated.
