That is gross. I do not see why people want to destroy their body in the pursuit of being skinny. If you are skinny yet so unhealthy you can not even show it off what was your point?
Most addictions ARE gross, Fairytale, but telling that to the addict doesn't do any good. It is up to them get the help that they need, and we can yell at them, tell them how gross it is until we are blue in the face, but until it truly hits them that they need help, they will continue doing it, gross or not.

Did you know that there's a lot of crap on the Internet promoting anorexia and videos to motivate girls to stay unhealthy. I've found sites that are like promoting girls to stay anorexic and bulemic like encouragement. Can you believe this, it's scary what girls are faced with in the media and everywhere they go.
When you see sites like that, report them immediately to Internet Fraud/Abuse. I am not sure the exact name of it, but there is a site out there that protects young girls from things like this.
Why would people anorexia anyways? What's the point? How sick some people can be....

I smoke for 35 or so years. I have been clean and sober for just about 3 years, and off cigarettes and any smoking at all for 2 years. I used my AA program to help me stop, but the gift of despiration was when I had to have a foot of intestine removed due to the use and abuse of drinking and smoking especially.
My AA and Golf buddy Pete, God rest, stopped when he had part of his throat, then larynks, then tongue removed. He finally died from this killer. He was in his early 60's.
My sponsor quit about a year into AA as well - he has over 20 years off tobacco now. Still some leftover damage, as with all of us.
I am lucky, I am alive, and breathing better, and show no signs of additional damage thus far.
It is hard as hell, but you need to kick it - no matter who you are ! Get pissed off at the tobacco companies, pray, use the programs of aa, na , nicotine annonymous etc....whatever positive thing you can do - do it.
Congrats on kicking your addictions, and I'm sorry to hear about your friend

.
I am on vicious cycle where I stop and quit, and I am hoping to finall kick the habit once and for all; oh and yes, those tobacco companies are evil.

I was reading this article that talked about how for
adolescents addiction to cigarettes is much easier to get than adults. Adults
usually smoke a few cigarettes that get their addiction to grow. But for 30% of
teenagers, their first, one and only cigarette could very well ignite their
addiction. Even for the teenagers who don’t smoke much still develop a strong
addiction. For example a girl who smokes 3-5 cigarettes a week is just as addicted
as a person who smokes 10 a day. She can’t seem to stop because she keeps
getting craving just like the heavy smoker.
When I read this article I totally believed it because I
remember my first time trying a cigarette. I was 13 years old and over my friend’s
house, we lit one up just to see what it tasted like. The first puff was so
soothing that I kept taking more. Then we heard the garage door open and put
out the cigarette quickly and ran up stairs. I kept thinking about how I wanted
another cigarette so bad for the next 3 weeks. I grew out of that stage after
that and even after having my second cigarette I didn’t enjoy it as much and I
didn’t keep craving it.
Hmm, that's interesting, but I wonder why ? Why do teenagers get addicted more easily than adults ? Could it be psychological ?
