The most consumed meat in the philippines right now? especially in the mauntanous area wher it is cold. They believed that dog meat help keep your body heat in cold climates and they love the sweet taste of the meat. Is it a ddiction?

It is a tradition in the culture, just as eating chicken or fish is in mine. I wish you would elaborate on this a bit. Why would you question if it is an addiction just because they eat a certain kind of meat? Is there something that you have read somewhere about individual cases in The Phillipines where people are becoming addicted to dog meat ? You can't call something an addiction simpley because they believe it keeps their body well insulated. I am honestly curious about this, because this is something I have never heard before.

Anything at all, whether getting something to help you, or quitting cold turkey, is better than smoking. Don't worry about the price. You are paying more for your cigarettes in the long run than if you bought Nicorette. I agree; if you cannot do it alone, then by all means get something that helps you. Good luck, and I hope you've been sticking with it !

I've always been into the whole alternative medicine thing, but I am with you on the needles fear. That is the #1 reasom that I have never tried acupuncture. I have heard that the needles are the size of a hair strand, but I just cannot fathom all those needles going all over me. I've also heard as well though that it is a great tool to help people quit smoking. If anyone has any experiences, I would love to know more.

Can you explain what each stat means ? I assume the first ones are the years, but the rest is a bit confusing. I just see the name of the drug and then a bunch of humbers.
Anyone else lost on this ?

GHB is a pretty serious drug that many people don't know about, and it even used to be legal. It's basically a "date" drug, because people have poured it into drinks so many times. I have a friend that was so addicted to it that he has been rushed to the emergency room on several occasions.

I prefer texting to phone calls because you can answer them more easily. If you get a phone call and you are in the middle of something, then you have to take the time out to answer the phone, and stop what you are doing. With a text you can just send it quickly and get to the point faster, at least in my opinion. It is just easier for me. However, maybe it is my phone but there is no way I could as many texts as others on here have. It could very well be a new addiction on the rise. I am sure more studies will be done about it.

How could this possibly be a safer alternative to smoking? True, you don't inhale smoke, but you are ingesting chemicals and nicotine through your gums ! Just think of all the damage done to your mouth in the process.
Is Marijuana addictive or not ?

I say yes it is. There has been many debates about whether marijuana is physically addictive, but regardless of what studies say, I have seen first hand that it can be psychologically addictive. My cousin is out of control. He gets mad if he can't get any and is "down in the dumps" all day. It has also deteriorated his short term memory to virtually nothing, and has made him extremely lazy. I would love to know why people do not think that this drug is not addictive.

Try calling 211. This is usually nationwide (depending on where you live). If not then I would google in your location and see if something local turns up. Good luck to you and your friend !

I know that back when marijuana started becoming popular, like in the 60s, marijuana wasn't as strong. So there was less addictive substance in the drug. But now, marijuana is a lot more stronger, so yes it is a lot more addictive and can be more deteriorating to the brain.

You are right. I read in USA TODAY that marijuana seems to get a bit more potent each year, and studies show that it has reached up to 8.5% of THC, which makes it more harmful. However, wouldn't any amount make it addictive? It is definitely more harmful, but I would think any amount would still cause an addiction, but maybe just not quite as fast.

what do you guys think would be a better addiction, television or internet? I personally think internet.

A better addiction? Neither...but if there had to be a choice, then of course the internet. Im most cases, unless you are watching videos or playing games, your have to read more on the internet instead of staring at a television. You also have to type more, and there is a lot of learning tools online.

Sorry to hear that . Unfortunately you are not alone. I am still smoking too, and I have relapsed one time before. I told myself next time I stop I won't pick up another, but I am so afraid I won't be able to keep it that I have not quit again yet. Dust yourself off and try again! Good Luck!

Oh yeah, coffee is very addictive. Luckily it never got me hooked because it would always make me too jittery, even the non caffeinated. But I've known several people who didn't even seem like the same person if they skipped their daily coffee. It seems like everywhere we turn, there is something that is addictive , and almost always it will be something that jeopardizes our health.

Even if Michael Vick has a serious gambling addiction, that in no way excuses killing of innocent pups. I don't buy the whole "that was the way I raised" bs. He knew it was wrong, he admitted he knew it was wrong, and now he is paying the price. I think he truly needs to seek some counseling while doing his time.

Lol I know it's spelled with a Y for sure, I think it's called Yagermeister something like that haha I know a lot of poeple that can't handle certain drinks. A lot of people are the same way with Tequila haha. But yeah you should definately stay away from it if you can't even remember the night before.

You may want to cheack agaian Alessandra. The correct spelling is "Jägermeister", and this stuff will knock on your bum if you are not careful. I think the problem is that it tastes so sweet and good, and has SUCH a high alcohol content, that people don't realize how much they have actually put into their body. There are lots of mixed drinks that include Jager, and I try to avoid them all.

I have to say that is one of the things I hate the very most about cigarettes, the smell. I have long thick hair and after I have been out at a bar I reek like a cigarette. The worst thing is I will get in my car the next day and wonder who the hell has been smoking in my car and then I realize it is the left over smell from my hair from the freak’n bar. YUCK!

I think bars are one place that the ban on cigarettes will never work, not totally anyways. I know some have implemented the ban, but thousands of bars would go out of business if they did that.

That's crazy, why would someone want to do a drug that's going to make them go to the hospital or pass out???

ANY drug at all has the capability of making people pass out, vomit, get sent to the ER, and in worst cases die, if abused. GHB has many effects that people seem to enjoy, and they risk the consequences.

What ways do women recover from addictions? Is there any specific differences in methods than those of guys?

I think women may need a wee bit more emotional support and talking their feelings out. I know guys need that too, but women usually feel the need to talk more and to air things out more. Just my personal opinion though.

First of all, congratulations. I know how hard it can be to put the bottle down forever, so job well done. I've learned that once you know you are an alcoholic, you will always be one, and can never take another drink again. I wish you success and I am glad rehab helped you. You are so right about rehab, but if can 100% be a life saver.

I quite like Bacardi quite a lot, but I'm more of a wine person, white wine to be precise.

I'm not one of those geeks that go to tasting conventions, eye the vintage, take a sip, and spit it out yelling "Thats the most disgusting thing I've had in my mouth since that bug-eating contest in the Boys Brigade!!"

As long as it's white wine, I like it.

Ha ha ! I always thought those wine tasters were humorous to watch. I used to drink wine every now and then as well. Do you still drink or is this something in the past ?
Having Blackouts

Quite a few people I know have have blackouts after a night of hard drinking. They don't seem to think it is a big deal, and say it is just a part of drinking. For me, that is one of the reasons I quit for good. I would hear stories of things that I did that were just absolutely shocking, and the worst thing was that I could not even remember a fragment of it. I think if people get so drunk to the point that they black out, then they need to seriously reconsider drinking.

I have some friends that for New Years they wanted to do some drugs (coke). This is not the first time the “special occasion” drug use has accrued. Is there reason for me to be concern?

I'd be concerned with getting addicted, but also more concerned with the legal factor as well. On New Years, just be careful where you do your party "supplies" at. Police are always, thank goodness, out and about even more so on New Years.
