i was watching my local news station this morning and a story really got to me. 2 boys were playing tag at midnight (which seems odd in itself because why would 2 little boys be able to be out that late) but one of them was hit by a drunk driver and is now having serious health complications. he had surgery this morning but no one knows if he will make it. when you get behind the wheel you need to be fully alert. i think i remember hearing like when you drive really tired it is equivalent to driving drunk or something like that. either way so many people get hurt each year because of incidences just like this one. this hits close to home because i have a friend whos sister died from a drunk driver. it had changed that family forever.

i agree with float_on. it seems like if you watch any old movie during that time everyone smoked, which would definitely make it hard on someone to quit when research like this surfaced. just looking at my family alone, all of my grandparents, great aunts and uncles and even parents smoked at one time or another or still do. i think too sometimes it just gets passed on from generation to generation because of that addictive gene and growing up around something like that.

why do you think people refuse to get the help or treatment they need when they have an addiction? if they could just quit it would make their lives so much better and be a healthier person. i bet half or even more than half of the time people do quit or seek treatment because they dont think they are really addicted to it..whatever it may be..drugs, alcohol, porn, internet, gaming, gambling...the list goes on and on. i think people are so in denial with life they dont want to see that they have problems..whats your spin on it??

over the weekend arizona had 137 arrests in 2 days dor dui violations. 94 came from friday alone and 41% had an alcohol content level of .15% or above. I think its good that people are getting caught, i think that they will really think about ever doing it again.

why do you think people prefer to chew over smoking? maybe because you can pretty much do it anywhere? i think maybe too people dont think it is as harmful as smoking, but it can still cause cancer, just at a slower rate. plus there is an 80% increased risk of oral cancer. have you seen pictures of this type of cancer. it isnt pretty.

on his latest blog he wrote "...I just want you all to know that four f****** months (almost) of not touching a damn thing that a psychiatrist didn't prescribe to me hasn't changed that s***. The medication that is prescribed to me doesn't do the trick every day, let's just put it that way. "I'm back in the looney bin trying to get that s*** right." towards the end, he adds, "Everyone's going to make their own decisions in life, but nobody needs to make the same mistakes I made."

its good he is blogging about it. i always have heard it helps when you can write your thoughts down and reflect on them instead of bottling them up.

the staff are not the only ones drinking. a study showed that from 1999-2005 157 college students from the ages of 18-25 died from drinking too much. i think that colleges put so much pressure on their students and this is their future, they cant screw up. just last year at the college in my hometown a guy in a frat died from alcohol poisoning. its happening everywhere.

and today new york passed a law that no one can smoke in college dorms across the whole state both public and private schools. i think almost every state is trying to help limit second hand smoke and they are slowly banning it from many places.

this war medic has died from a drug overdose at the age of 31 a couple month ago at his hometown. prior he had already been struggling with drugs, unemployment, ptsd and marital problems. "He just wasn't Joseph. Joseph never came home. Talking to him, he knew he was going to die. His wife, Matina, said: "He was just never the same when he came back, because of all the things he saw."He tried to seek treatment, but it didn't work." the family hoped this story would bring attention to substance abuse and ptsd from the war.

Wow, people are amazing. If I got robbed, I would have hid evidence first if I was going to call the cops. That's like asking to get caught. On that show Busted on MTV a cop stopped two guys just walking from their car to their apartment because they looked too young. One of the guys was under 21 and got fined $500 bucks for just carrying it.

I have my email open at all times throughout the day and get notifications when I get a new message or email. It makes me stay always connected and up to date. Recently I also started checking news sites quite often, which drive my friends nuts because I ignore them and concentrate on my phone.

That isn't a very good successful rate. I wonder why it is so low. Is it low compared to other addictions that people try and quit? A lot of people smoke too, so that must be good for the tobacco companies. I know from people in my family-the ones who smoke- that when they try and quit they really don't want to. It doesn't even last a day of them trying. I think for it to work you're really going to have to try and quit and use aides to assist you in trying.
