try not going to the mall at all. keep your self busy with other things, maybe a second job or another hobby. your never going to stop liking shopping but the best you can do is to try to stay away from it.

ofcourse shopping is fun but you girls should keep it down to a minimum so you wouldn't be worrying about all your depths. i mean if you were like paris hilton with all the money in the world then shop forever but theres other things in life that are more importand than the way you look.

I agree, my dad has a drinking problem and it's hard to be around him when he's drunk. He is also a different person and sometimes he annoys me really bad. Especially when he's drunk around my friends and my boyfriend lol. All you can do is talk to your mom, try not to get too involved because you will end up draining yourself. My mom tried for years and years to get my dad to stop drinking and she always ended up getting hurt because she would blame herself and always wonder what she was doing wrong or she thought my dad didnt love her enough. I suggest talking to your mom and telling her how her drinking makes you feel and that you like her when she's being herself

I agree with Ms. Rodriguez, just because your parents made some bad choices doesn't mean you can't grow up to be successful. My parents dont' have drug problems but I feel like they were never there for me emotionally, they were always working and I could never talk to them. But I ended up finding out who I was for myself and figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Even though I've made a lot of mistakes, I wouldn't change my situation with my parents because in the end, I made everything work.
how to help a family member?

About 10 million women and one
million men suffer from a diagnosed eating disorder. But many more have
symptoms that have yet to be clinically identified and treated. But how do you
identify an eating disorder? And how does a family help an affected member ease
the tremendous strain on relationships?

All Addictions Turn from Pleasure to Dependency

Addictive behavior always starts with pleasure. That may be the result of alcohol, cigarettes, or other drugs, or it may be people saying, “You look good” or maybe after winning a poker game, or the feeling of relief from anxiety or pain. The pleasure turns to an addiction when the high becomes a necessity. So why is compulsive behavior in America so common? We are freer now, than we were 40 years ago to decide how to live our lives.

Addictive behavior is bound up in identity and emotions. The theorist in happiness, Professor Richard Layard, has been successful in convincing the government to fund an extension of counseling for depression. But addictive behavior, which in many cases overlaps depression, has more serious consequences for society. Addictions almost always go along with loss of self-confidence. Whether individual’s behavior is controlled by habits that should be controlled, we are still living in control of domination and freedom.

You can request to work at a strictly drug rehab only place, that could be a start. Churches also are basically drug free, anything like that. I mean you choose your own environment.

Hey that's so sad, I want to see it though, it sounds really good. It's sort of like that show Intervention I love it! I'm totally hooked on it. I love Mario too, I can't believe some people end up being so successful even when their parents are drug addicts n stuff. My best friend's parents are former crystal meth addicts, and she's the most sane person in her whole freakin family.
