There are a lot of movies that make junkies seem as something funny. I would have to say I have watched several of these movies and find them humorous, however as a mom this humor is scary. I would hate for my son to find it funny and okay.

10 million dollars is an extremely excessive gambling problem. There are so many different things you can do with that money that could actually help someone, but no they chose to waste it away. I just do not understand.

They are starting to get way to risky on TV. I understand that Weeds is on cable TV, but I think there should be some kind of limits to what can be shown.

I live in Texas and there are several over weight people around this area. I think it has to do with all the delicious Mexican food. Most Mexican food is NOT low in fat.

I have so many clothes and shoes that my friends tease me. When I feel down I enjoy shopping to help me feel better. I just have too many clothes, but hate to part with any of them. Suggestions?

Sometimes after a hard day at work I also feel like going home and relaxing with a few beers. However, if there is not any beer in the refrigerator than I will just skip drinking. Maybe you should try not drinking at all next time you get the urge. I think it will help determine if your after work drinking is something of a problem or just simply an occasional relaxation device

I have some friends that for New Years they wanted to do some drugs (coke). This is not the first time the “special occasion” drug use has accrued. Is there reason for me to be concern?

How would you describe a drug addiction to prescriptions? I have a prescription for Loratab due to intense shoulder pains. How can I tell if I have gone too far into usage where as they become an addiction?

The porn industry does not care about anything except money. The thing is if Bob is not supplying easy porn to the internet then Fred down the road would be the one. It will never go away. Besides, I do not mind porn what bothers me is the illegal (minors/children, animals, snuff, rapes, etc) or just plain gross (body waste, extremely large items, etc) porn.

Actors like Drew shows there is no excuse to wreck your life with drugs other than the individual actor’s own weakness. I think that when one of these “role models” gets sick off into drugs we cut them out of the media. Why should they stop the way the system works now? Most people who do drugs do so to feel good about themselves. I would have to say if millions of people around the world wanted to know all about me every second that would just heighten the excitement of the drug.

This weekend I went on a casino cruse. The closest I had ever come to gambling before this is one of those places that pop out tickets and you trade them in for toys or shot glasses. It was fun, but in no way addictive at all for me. Every time I would start to lose I would think, man I could be using this money for something so much more important. When I won it was exciting, but not enough to remember the money that I wasted.

Those are simple yet inspirational. Sometimes inspirational messages are so long winded I lost track of the inspiring meaning. These are short in length by long in meaning.

I am right there with you fairytale. Sometimes the sales are just too good to pass up. I only bought 3 items this year; however I spent close to a $1,000. That $1,000 was very well spent: 42” HDTV, 1000 watt surround, and a trampoline.

I have never heard of someone being addicted to ketchup. I have heard of people enjoying ketchup on odd foods, but that is more of a personal preference rather than an addiction. I do not believe these individual have “compulsive physiological and psychological….(dictionary.com)” need for ketchup or a “condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied (dictionary.com)” with ketchup. I actually do not know of any food that “requires” ketchup. There are several foods that people find ketchup a normal additive, but nothing that requires ketchup.

I do not believe these individuals who eat dog meat are addicted. They do it out of personal taste and from what you said necessity, “They believed that dog meat help keep your body heat in cold climates…” I mean, I eat cow or chicken meat probably once a day and I have no addiction to cow or chicken. I eat these meats due to personal preference and to sustain a balance diet. I think you might be confusing the word addiction with personal preference.

I have noticed a few posts where people have been curious if people enjoying a certain item a lot, if it’s an addiction. What is an addiction and what is just a person’s personal preference?

I have that same problem of clothes every where and not enough room to store them all. The worst part is as soon as you throw out (or give to charity) items of clothing you sure enough need that very item. Clothes can be addicting. I know sometimes I will go shopping because I have had a bad day and buying something for myself sure makes me feel a whole lot better.

I have anxiety attacks, but I have always been afraid of Xanx because I have heard of too many, abuse leading to addiction, problems. I have been taking a Loratab to curve my anxiety and it seems to work pretty well. However, the problem I have come across with Loratab is I can not tell my Dr. I want Loratab for anxiety and I find myself taking it to feel good, not just to curve the anxiety.

It would be wonderful if there was a way when I logged in I could click a link that would take me to all the replies to my posts. Instead of having to search down the questions I posted a direct link would be great. I have noticed on other forums I have chatted on that they have had such a feature. If this site does have such a thing can someone give me a helping hand?

I think you want to drink because you are depressed. I enjoy prescription medication myself from time to time. I notice when I feel bad I enjoy the medication to a point of needing it and not just wanting it anymore. When I am having an excellent day I might still feel like popping a pill, but if I do not have any it is not a big deal. The worst thing is the pills and the drinking only make the depression worst. Dealing with the depression/problem is the only way to really make it through. Of course sometimes that is easier said than done.
