I am now dry for 4 months and AA is really helping me. Whiskey was my thing before now it's tea. Support groups really help. This is a nice forum!

Joe you hang in there and get checked into your local AA. From one alkie to another, get out of this before it destroys everything you love and care for!

6 months is really quite a fete. I am now getting closer to 5 months. Glad to see others who have gone through the AA program and is sticking to the road of success;) I believe God deserves credit more then anyone else. I know He is working with me and helping me to overcome every temptation!

I agree that if your girlfriend does that she does not respect you. Some people can become addicted to "abuse" . You deserve better then that and shouldnt have to put up with such treatment. If she loved you she wouldn't treat you that way. Unless you like the abuse, I would say that you should tell her to stop hitting you or to move on to someone else.

What are some alternative things to do instead of the addictions we are so accustomed to? I, myself, get busy when I am tempted to go for a drink. I go fishing and sit there for hours. What about you? Do you have an alternative..a plan b..for when you are tempted to give into your addiction?
