Wow 15 is so many. They should try and enforce rules or something to prevent it. It is so sad when college students or their athletes get involved with harmful substances that can ruin their chances of achieving something better for their lives.

This study found that 1 in every 8 soliders returning home after the war will experience this and less than half will seek help. That isn't good. I think when people have problems like this they should get help because it will probably make their overall life and health better.

Movie Theaters and Alcohol?

A movie theater in New Haven has asked permission to serve alcohol at their theater. I think this is ridiculous. They want to open a bar specifically for serving alcohol. What is the point of that? I bet they make enough money from the mark up of popcorn, candy and soda. People can go two hours without drinking alcohol and wait for a time when it is more appropriate.

This kind of reminds me of those videos or pictures that show someone before their addiction and then even 3 years later or sooner. They start looking different, acting different and before you know it they aren't the same person period. It's sad to see. At least the football coach is trying to fight.

Gambling Addiction on Base

The USMC addiction counselors are estimating that more than 500 service members and dependents on Okinawa may be suffering from a gambling addiction. To help, 50 psychologists, social workers, treatment specialists and financial counselors from bases across the island gathered during the week to learn how to screen and treat gambling addiction. I think what they are trying to do is really good. They are trying to help before an addiction actually occurs. In 2005, a study came out reporting that 1.2% of the military population suffered from pathological or compulsive gambling. I think most people don't even realize they have a problem and probably suffer in other areas like drinking or money problems.
Wasted Time

The time that I've wasted is my biggest regret
Spending time in "places" I will never forget
Just sitting and thinking about the things I have done
The crying, the laughing, the hurt and the fun

Now, it's just me dealing with my hard-driven guilt
Behind a wall of emptiness I've allowed to be built
I'm trapped in my mind, just wanting to run
Back to my youth where there's laughter and fun

But the chase is over and there's no place to hide
So much is gone, including my pride
With reality suddenly right in my face
I'm scared, alone and stuck in this "place"

Now, memories of the past flash through my head
And the pain is obvious by the tears that I've shed
I ask myself why and where I went wrong
I guess I was weak when I should have been strong

Drinking to live, I'm now reaping what's sown
My feelings are lost, afraid to be shown
As I look at my past
It's clear to see
The fear that I have
Afraid to be me

I live for the day when I'll get a new start
Fulfilling my dreams I hold deep in my heart
I know I can make it
I at least have to try
Because I'm heading toward death
And I don't want to die

I have never even heard of this site..Do you parents know about this?? I'm assuming they do if they are paying the monthly fee. Did your parents know she was faking sick? These are not good signs. Keep talking and encouraging your parents to monitor her computer use so she doesn't become addicted or obsessive with anything.

I have also never heard of a nicotine gum addiction. I guess it could happen though, anything is possible. Maybe when people are trying to quit smoking and are under stress they may chew the gum more often, but I'm not sure...I have in ways wondered the same thing. My good friend in high school was on the patch and he said the nicotine was so strong for him, but in a way it's a secretive way to still get the fix without the smell and people knowing.

Starbursts are good. I eat a lot of those too. I also can eat a whole box of Wheat Thins. I really need to check the calorie count and I always forget to check the serving size...Opps.
