RE: Football Player Arrested on Alcohol Charge

I dont think consequences are really gonig to stop them. They're football players, thats what they enjoy in life. They have a good game, grab a bunch of drinks, party up, get some girls and its a satisfactory night. I had a friend who was a football player about 7 years ago, and whenever he would get a touch down his own dad would buy him a keg. I thought that was ridiculous that a parent would ever do that. But thats what happens. I think its just up to the person to care enough about the consequences to not attempt anything, but if they just want to drink nothing will get into their way.

I quit drinking a while ago and I dont do any drugs, but I really do have just as much fun as the drunk guy next to me. People think it's much more fun just being drunk and crazy with everyone else. But really if I just grab a redbull and have some music it's a blast and I have no regrets the next morning.
Alcopop taxes going UUUP

It’s been all over the news that the government wants to higher the taxes on alcopops to lower binge drinking, but do you guys think it’ll really work? Basically the drinker will be getting a much better deal by buying wine than these alcopops. I think that this will just make things worse. At least when teens are drinking the alcopops they’re getting lower doses of alcohol than if they’re drinking beer and hard liquor which they would be otherwise drinking because it’s cheaper. They for sure aren’t going to just stop drinking because one of their favorite drinks got expensive. What’s your response?

I agree the laws should be very harsh with this. But I dont think these girls know what they're getting their selves into. They're just looking for love in all the wrong places and with these "pimps" its the worst place. Who knows how much they could damage their health and ruin their lives so much. But I think they're in positions where they're stuck mentally and physically, the only thing that could help them is the outside force like the law.

I really hate what they're saying about Miley Cyrus. It was just a picture and she wasn't naked. Her back was showing but she was still dressed and her parents were in the room with her. They really are making her the new Britney and having the paparazzi out to get her also.

I wonder if after seeing him sober and matured yet still the same old Steve-O some of his friends whom he used to do drugs with would also want to quit. I know if I was one of his friends, he would be enough motivation for me to quit.

I'm proud of both of you guys for getting sober and absolutely loving and appreciating the feeling. Most people dont know what they're missing out on by drinking their lives away and all the amazing memories they  are losing.

Nacho said: Yeah, I don't really get the whole you tube craze either.  Some videos are funny, but they're mostly just boring videos of bored people doing stupid stuff.  But sometimes it comes in handy, if I'm trying to find a music video, it's right there, with every version you can imagine lol.

I agree. And most the stuff people put up their is jsut funny to them but completely lame and pointless to me. Honestly sometimes it kind of annoys me. But I do like watching some dances people make, there really are some talented people out there who have yet to be acknowledged, I guess youtube is their big break.

honestly, the kids are going to hear this language everywhere they go. I dont think that just preventing them from watching southpark or any of those shows will help them have a clean mouth. It's the way parents raise their kids also. My mom would put a soap bar in my mouth everytime I said a bad word even if I was 18, and I'm 26 now and I still dont cuss. I was surrounded by all these shows and I came out fine. My little sister is 12 and she always watches these shows too, but she doesn't cuss at all. Even when her friends send her text messages cussing she responds back calmly. I think its just the way your raised.

Nacho said: I think he needs a family intervention to pull him together and remind him why he is trying to get sober.  Let him know how much his family cares for him and how great of a person he is when he's not drinking.

Thats a really good idea Nacho I never thought of that. I was going to say watch him close so that he doens't relapse again and everything he's worked so hard for go to waste.

If its been a few months and you still feel like you dont trust him and its not getting better then maybe you should go to therapy. Maybe a therapy with him. Your son is also human though and he has made some mistakes. It seems like he is trying very hard to get his life back on track and stop reminising his past and making a brand new future. If you see he is trying to be sober then support him all you can and give him all you've got to help him. But if your doubting him then your attracting that to happen and that is what will happen.

Dont keep nagging her on taking you there. Let her know that its alright to remember him and keep talking about him but instead of grieving his death they should be happy about his life. He's in a better place and she will have to deal with death her whole life. This is just the first one, and she lost her grandpa, but there are others who lost their kids. Its ok to miss him but it shouldn't take over her life and she should know that.

Lol pharmacy’s should start putting those buttons under the counter like banks now ?.

Quite a few stores do that, but at least in banks they're protected by bullet-proof screens that can take 45. bullets. Keep in mind that if you set off that alarm, you get caught, you're dead. Probably a meth dealer, since people steal medication left-right and center to make meth.

Couldn't the alarm be silent so the cops just come and while the person is in the back grabbing the pills the cops could come and take him down. they should have fake pills too, that look like oxycontin or other drugs worth stealing and those would be given to the theives. I think thats a good idea :)
The New OxyContin

Purdue Pharma tha maker of the painkiller oxycontin, is trying to make oxycontin tamper resistant, so that addicts can’t abuse it. He agreed last year to pay $634.5 million to settle claims that doctors said about the risk of OxyContin. It is one of the best selling drugs with more than $1 billion in sales last year. While most stocks have been dropping recently OxyContin still keeps rising.
Eventually the new version of this drug will replace the existing drugs. Purdue hasn’t disclosed how its new OxyContin technology works or how effective it has been in studies. But the pill has rubbery characteristics to prevent tampering and may release no more than a quarter of its active ingredient when dissolved in alcohol. The gummy texture of the capsule is difficult for abusers to convert into a form that can be injected or snorted and resists dissolving in alcohol and water.
However other drug companies like Alpharma and Elite are counting on the chemical naltrexone which is an opioid receptor antagonist. Their painkillers are coated with naltrextone, so when the pill is crushed, chewed or cut open the naltrexone is released along with the narcotic preventing it from causing a high.
I think doctors way start prescribing the pills with naltrexone because that fully prevents addiction than with oxycontin because people will still get the high when they swallow it, but they just can’t take it any other way. But they are both smart ideas, and I think both will bring down abuse.

I'm here for my sister. She has been in and out of rehab for her alcohol addiction. She wants to quit and she hates drinking but her body needs it and it's like the only thing that can cheer her up when she's down. She is a very moody person so she has her down moments quite a lot too. I'm having her live with me right now so I can help keep her from the bottle. But I'm so relieved that she is letting me help because she is also a very independent person and always wants to do things on her own. This is something she can't though.

My husband cannot use the same soap bar twice. It drives me crazy were wasting so much money just on stupid soap! And he cant jsut put things in the dish washer and be content with it, he has to have it hand washed before and then dish washer washed again.

Try not mentioning it, dont think about her flaws and what she has done but what you love about her. With time it will go away. I dont think it's worth losing her over a mistake that she knows was wrong.

I worked out the most when I was in high school also for PE. Its crazy though because we'd do excersizes for an hour straight. We'd run and jog and walk for 30 minutes and I would be able to do it. Now when i go to the gym no joke I jog for 7 minutes and my sides start hurting me. I'm so out of shape.
