Yes, it's really judgemental for someone to say that, it's like giving no hope to people who are desperately trying to really recover... I think many people believe that you will always be an alcoholic but the question is if you're recovered or not. I agree with this.

Hha well just to add to your point, yesterday I got an iphone and my friend was like wow, so that means you can look at porn whenever since you have the internet with you 24/7. Lol it sounds funny, but it's wrong becasue poeple don't get to see what goes on behind the pictures and pornography movies, it's all fake.

Yes and a counselor would be good for you too. I was in almost the exact same situation as you, except we don't have a child together. But, I just kept telling him over and over what he was doing was wrong and he saw how much it had hurt my feelings about him lying to me. You have to rememebr he's an addict and his recovery is priority right now. Just stay strong and if you're starting to get angry just hang up, because a lot of times anger and hurtful feelings can be a huge trigger for him.

Whenever I have all these thoughts bouncing around in my head, I write them all down in my planner and I pick which ones to take care of first. If I do that then I'm less stressed and I'll do things one day at a time, that way it doesn't all add up to the day before.

Steven Kaxmierczak, the North Illinois University gunman, was taking three prescription drugs at the time of the shooting. Jessica Baty, his girlfriend of two years says he was taking Xanax, used to treat anxiety, and Ambien, a sleep agent, as well as the antidepressant Prozac. She said he has stopped taking the antidepressants three weeks before the Valentine's Day rampage on the NIU campus, which left 5 students dead and 16 wounded. He then killed himself.
His girlfriend said that over their two year courtship, she had never seen him display violent tendencies and she expressed bewilderment over the cause of the rampage.
I can't understand how someone who seemed to have been a kind-hearted person their entire life could just snap like this and hurt so many innocent people? And shouldn't doctors be more aware of their patient's state of mind?

While other adults who abuse drugs and alcohol have many similarities related to addicts, the elderly carry unique complications with their addictions. Age also comes with mixing up prescriptions, grief from outliving family members, and a belief that they're far too old for addictions to matter. Those who came of age when dependence on drugs and alcohol were closely kept secrets are wary of treatment.

Yeah I don't, but I only said that because the shooter had stopped taking one of his medications because it made him feel bipolar, and also his girlfriend noticed he was being irritable. So shouldn't a doctor be aware if their patient was having symptoms like this and especially if they went off the medications themselves.
Disillusionment

I met a guy recently and he spent about 10 whole minutes chewing me out because he found out that I was religious. He was saying things like we are the cause of the war because we elected Bush and we're the reason his son got hurt in Iraq, and he went on and on until he started rambling and concluded that religion is why he woke up with a sore throat this morning. I was sort of in shock the whole time!
It seems like there are many people out there that once believed in God and became disillusioned, like they're mad at God. But I was wondering like what do you say to people like this when they're obviously soo pissed at you??!

You have to think about the future too, like if you plan on marrying this guy, will you be okay going to a different church than your husband? I think that would be a little heartbreaking for you over time. There are some major differences between Catholic churches and Christian ones. Christian churches to me feel a lot more personal and more about worshiping Jesus because they believe that's the only way to heaven and to God. But Catholic churches are exactly the same and can be uncomfortable if you've never been. But to answer your question, you can't expect someone to change their religion for their relationship, it's a personal choice.

If you knew you were an overeater and were excessively gaining weight, if you saw yourself digitally imaged with 25 years of aging added to your face and body, would it make people stop eating/smoking/drinking so much? I've seen a couple experiments like these and women that drink alot look 10 times worse than if they didn't drink int he pictures.

Thanks! Lol that did help, I pretty much told him that God isn't the source of his problems and not to be mad at God and he still didn't want to hear it. But people like this really are like poison, I'm sure his wife isn't religious, including his friends and coworkers because you should've heard him!

My boyfriend is struggling with a cocaine addiction, he used to do it everyday, and now he does it every once in a while. Everytime I find out I get soo mad and overwhelmed but I'm learning to deal with it because he is trying so hard to stop. It's just that most of his friends do it too and it makes me so mad when he thinks he can hang around them and not do it.

Sometimes girls can be the cruelist. My best friend was the prettiest girl in school and after getting voted 'Biggest Flirt' everyone started calling her a slut and really horrible names. She didn't act like one, but all the guys like her and she was just a really nice person. But I remember other girls would throw water bottles at her and spread horrible rumors about her. After a while she decided to be homeschooled and it ruined her because she could never trust anyone. I would stand up for her, but there's only so much you can do. But you guys are right, it takes some courage, but you have to learn to stand up to bulliles so that they won't give you crap for the rest of your life.

Those people are discusting, of course they have a psychological disorder because who in their right mind would let their two babies starve?? I haven't heard this story before, but that's just terrible. They should make a time limit on how much you can play a certain game or something for Christ sake!

It completely changes your personality also. My boyfriend's brother is this way. All he cares about is his Halo website, his computer, and his 42' widescreen... it's so ridiculous. He's never had a girlfriend and doesn't really care about ever getting one. He's twentyone and still acts like he's 12 because he refuses to give these things up!

I suspect smoking is really popular in India. I read in the news recently that smoking kills 104 people per hour. And by 2010 India will have 114 deaths per hour due to smoking. Comparing the rest of the world to India, the 'quit rate' remains the lowest in the world. Only two percent of adults have quit often only after falling ill. Experts say that it is more effective to use pictures in India given that 50 percent of those smoking cannot read and many are unaware of the harmful effects of tobacco. Pictoral warnings could be more effective in India and all over the world. The small warnings are of no use because people don't notice it. I think if there were actual pictures of the risks of tobacco, people would think twice about lighting up.

'Safe Level of Smoking Myth'

More needs to be done to correct the long-standing myth among the Chinese public that low-tar cigarettes are less dangerous than normal ones. The anti-smoking meausures are urgent with Beijing promising a tobacco-free Olympics and banning smoking in most public places, starting in May. They cited a recent survey that found close to 60% of respondents believed smokers take in less tar- a carcinogen- from low tar cigarettes, while 58.3% of those polled said that smoking such cigarettes will be safer than puffing on other types. The so called low tar cigarettes are as harmful as other tobacco products. The trick is the cigarette design.
Low tar cigarettes are defined according to tar levels in cigarette smoke measured by machines. Investigations in the United States, where the first "light" cigarette was born, found in 2001 that in order to get lower tar levels, tobacco producers changed the design of the cigarettes, such as adding ventilation holes invisible to the naked eye, to dilute the tar in smoke from such cigarettes. But these measurements do not reflect how much smokers are exposed to the fatal substances emitted by cigarettes, one reason that smokers just inhale deeper.
This fallacy is partly because tobacco producers have kept telling smokers that they are using high-technology to reduce the harm of tar, some even put 'herbal' ont he package!

I've been reading some stuff, it sounds like China is very high up there, probably more than India.
