Haha I think women can take a big chunk of the blame here, sometimes I just like to start fights or I'll take offense to things that were never meant to hurt me. That's why the drinking age is 21, I mean teenagers just can't handle being under the influence and be able to deal with issues in a rational way.

A mother in
Australia recently admitted to spending $45,000 on ice in the six months before
she entered rehab. She spent the money
after her ex-husband reimbursed her for half of their house that was sold after
their separation. The woman has two kids
aged 10 and 12. She said that during her
marriage, she smoked pot everyday and had problems with alcohol. After the separation, she tried ice and after
that she wanted more, then nearly six months later, she was totally gone.

She
said that her lowest point was when she threw herself into traffic while under
the influence of ice and alcohol. She
said she just wanted it to be over and it scared her. Fortunately, she decided to get treatment
after having her kids taken away. During
her stay, her kids would come and visit her and even stay some weekends and
that proved to be her main motivation to ultimately beating her addiction.

It's sad, sometimes it does take addicts hitting rock bottom to realize that they need help, but with other addicts they may never realize. All people on the outside can do is try to help them see that it's time to get treatment and let them know how much they're damaging their bodies.

Walk the Line featuring Johnny Cash's and Ray Charles were really powerful movies also. It made me want to never become a drugee. Maybe if I would've watched more movies based on alcoholism, it would've saved me a lot of grief :p

The Person I Long To Be

© By Victoria A. Mogyorosi

The day light breaks again
Another day has begun.

But still no sleep has come.
My body is weary

My mind overworked.
I lie awake thinking

But what I am unsure.
I need to break free from the cycle I endure.

Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished.
I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tide

Unable to break free from the everyday flow.
This is not me I need to change, before time takes over

And I am unable to change.
I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinary

And become that person I have always longed for.
Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake.

Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest.
Make changes in my life and help those in need.

I would like to touch everyone's life in a positive way
And leave my mark on society before I fade away.

You can get all of that back one day, you just have to work hard to get it. A life on drugs is no life at all, addiction only leads to sorrow. I suggest getting clean, then working on getting a steady job and finishing school, and your relationships and friends will come back to you in no time.

If anyone is going to explain homosezuality to children, it should be the parents. This is actually a very controversial subject if someone is religious, even if you're not there are so many debates on gay marriage and such. It's wrong for that teacher to take things into her hands and expose that to innocent children.

A lot of people are the same way with Tequila haha. But yeah you should definately stay away from it if you can't even remember the night before.

My best friend, her mom bought us alcohol before when I was with her and I know she does it all of the time. My best friend is the only one in her family that doesn't have a problem with drinking or doing drugs but her parents are drug addicts for sure. I felt a little wierd about it too, we went and got cheetos and a 24 pack and she bought it for us. That night I got soo drunk and I was hung over the next day. Now that I look back I regret supporting that because I know my best friend can't even live with her mom because she's so messed up.

I think you should just stay sober and keep making steps toward becoming the guy they want you to be. I had an exboyfriend in a similar situation and whenever he was sober, his parents loooved him so much and would actually talk to him like normal. But when he was using its like they didn't even want him living with them.

Yea I agree and especially when someone says I can stop whenever I want, I just don't want to. That's a really bad sign that they are addiction or they will be really soon.

Well look at the pornography business, it's probably the most profitable profession for someone in the sex business. You can literally be famous for being a porn star and doing that stuff. Can you imagine, a world famous prostitue....?

If you can afford it, then why not? I think you can never have enough shoes or purses, they're both so efficient! It sounds like you have a problem with organization, like you're an impulse shopper only because you're scared to clean out your old bags. You should try it tho, you may find $20 bucks or like a pair of earrings you thought you lost haha it happends to me all of the time!

Well it's good that you made the decision yourself to quit, but I think it's also great to have a strong support group around you to help you through it. Stay motivated and it'd probably be helpful to join some type of NA group.

I am the same way with drinking and smoking weed. Usually I'll have enough strength to pass the blunt or pipe when I'm sober but if I'm drunk it's so hard to say no. I'll tell myself I won't, then later I'm like well if someone offers then maybe but I won't buy any..... usually I'll just end up leaving and not having any fun because I don't want to tempt myself like that. Whatever you need to do though to keep you from smoking, you should probably stay away from people and things that make you want to smoke.

I think that's a really selfish thing to do because one day he'll be grown up and say, Dad you were high the whole time I was growing up. It's going to make him feel insecure about himself or be mad about it, either way he'll find out eventually. Just like you'd know if your kid was high, he'll know when you're high. I found out my mom smoked weed to help her sleep and I yelled at her and cried because addiction has been in my family since forever and she was my hero. But now that she quit I've forgiven her and I'm over it. So you should just quit now to avoid feeling even more guilt and regret later.
Families of Drug Abusers Need Help

More support should be provided to the families of drug and alcohol abusers. A report by the ANCD released dangerous details about alcohol, cannabis and amphetamine use by teenagers and their parents. More than 450,000 children live in homes where adults binge drink and 1/5th of 16-year-olds binge drink in any given week. The alarming report also showed about 1/10th of teenagers have abused alcohol in the past week, while 67,000 high school students have taken amphetamines in the last year. These stats were compiled in Australia, and since the report, a bill was passed that would ban alcohol advertising before 9pm, require health information labels on all alcohol products and ensure all alcohol advertising was pre-approved by a government body and did not link drinking to success. Alcohol kills three times more Australians than illicit drugs. Well I'm glad Australia is showing that they care about its citizens, but it sounds like illicit drugs are still a big problem.

I've never actually had a family member die because of addiction, but a few of my family members got really close to killing themselves. But you shouldn't feel guilty because of the choices they were making in their lives. I'm sure you impacted their lives in a positive way, it's just so hard to get through to an addict. They are not themselves and are only living for a single purpose.

The high school I attended was also very strict on its students, but drinking was a huge problem also. I remember it got so bad that all of the counselors came around to every classroom to talk to us about this huge problem. It got worse when 37 people were caught at one of the dances for drinking and one student was even drinking alcohol while talking to an administrator. There were some kids that would do drugs at lunch and come back to class stinking like pot. Sometimes the teachers knew and sometimes they had no clue, which is retarded. Or maybe they didn't care....?

It's pointless to argue whether or not porn is a problem, it affects millions of people's lives, including the people involved in the porn industry and the one's viewing it.  Every porn star is someone's son or daughter and it's a devastating way of life.  Millions of lives are ruined by this addiction and protesting against it may not make a huge difference, but it does have an impact.  Christians viewing porn is different than an atheist viewing porn because it points out how those who are religious can be overcome by porn addiction.

If someone is truly addicted to the Internet, they probably won't care if they're being rude or interrupting anything.  It's all about impulse and feeding your cravings.

I saw that when he was on tv, its sad he's already addicted to it, he's got that junkie mentality.  He saying he can't quit, you gotta go throug detox and all that , but I'll pray for him.  I don't want Weezy to go down with all those other rappers, dying before they're 30 yrs old.

It's hard to understand also why people get addicted, because there is a point when you know you may become addicted if you keep taking that drug.  A lot of girls start using coke to lose weight and after they did, they were so scared to stop in fear of gaining weight.  They were willing to sacrifice their reputations and pretty much everything just to be skinny.
