All of my friends at church have been the most supportive.  They're actually the most understanding and you're right, it's from the best point of view.

Sorry but there's two sides to every story.  You may feel like everyone is picking on the rich and famous, but this is how it's always been.  The famous are glorified, and when they screw up, everyone wants to hear about it.  You have to understand that Hollywood is a world of its own.  If they don't want the bad attention, then they can get away from it.  Every job has some drawbacks and as an entertainer, they understand this.

Well, speaking about the war, it bothers me that we're forced to pay for something that we don't agree with.  At first I supported the war, but now it seems like we're just throwing so much money into Iraq and I personally haven't seen any gains from it.  I'd much rather supply my money to charities and to a cause that I fully support.  This recession is tough now and it's only beginning.  Who knows how bad it's going to get.

Honestly, it's much better to just get a full 8 hours of sleep so that we're not over working out bodies and exhausting our brains.  There's really no good excuse to deprive yourself of sleep so that you absolutely need an energy drink to get through the day.  They're not horrible for you, but they're not good for you either.

I feel like there's more of a stigma against girls who smoke weed.  For guys it's almost whatever.  But in my opinion, it's very unclassy and I feel like they can't really handle it.

I swear, I just went to the lake this weekend and my buddy was drinking.  Just like if he was driving a car, we took away the keys and wouldn't let him drive the boat, even though it was his.  The rangers are sneaky too, they'll watch the boats with binoculars.  Driving a boat is just as hard as driving a car, except you're riding around with 15 people so it's actually more responsibility.  And there's no seat belts on a boat.  I bet he felt pretty ridiculous being handled like that in front of everyone.

I think the addiction involves pretty much everything you mentioned: the newest phone, best ringtones, an obsession with texting and calling.  Just like a gambler would get excited after winning some money and they keep playing until they win again, a cell phone addict would keep texting over and over despite being over their bill for example.  I heard that currently 84% of the population has a cell phone, so potentially, cell phone addiction could become a national epidemic really fast lol.  People get obsessed with things really easy, like when I got my iphone, I couldn't put it down and I was so excited to get a text because it's actually really entertaining to use.  But now I'm like whatever lol, I can't possibly still be addicted to it.

If you live within 50 miles of a casino, then  you're twice as likely to become a gambling addict.  This makes a lot of sense, but many people don't realize it.  Where I live, there's about three casinos within a reasonable driving distance from my house.  Even though I don't gamble, I've been there before.  Unfortunately my dad is a regular and it worries me.  He's told me recently that he doesn't plan on going back, because he realizes what a big waste of money it is, which I'm really glad about.  I can imagine him developing a gambling problem if he lived down the street from the casino.

I think a lot of parents expose too much of their past when talking about drugs.  It should be irrelevant regarding what you did in the past because you know your own mistakes and because of that we should have learned from them.  I've used the excuse before that my mom tried drugs or she smoked pot before.  And even though it's kind of a low blow, I used it as an excuse.  Because I saw how she did drugs before and she's a very successful person.  So I think if you're going to talk to your kids about drugs, then it'd be smart to keep your past drug use in the past and not bring it up.

LOl I hope my mom didn't have a high-fat diet when she was pregnant, that's really good information though.  It really makes sense, because our bodies get used to having a really have calorie/fat intake, so when we're older, we still need that same amount.  Also it helps to shed weight faster from a pregnancy when the mother eats a lot of healthy foods.

I don't get it, what do you mean by gene mutation protecting them from drugs?  It doesn't make it physically impossible to use hard core drugs while smoking.  And you're right, I've always thought that cocaine abusers typically smoked cigarettes too.  Drug abusers will ususally use two or more drugs at a time, or a depressant when they are coming down from a stimulant.

I will pray for your friend with you, it's so comforting knowing that you have extra support from other Christians, I've been in a position like you before.  Is your friend saved?  If you're not too sure, I think you should bring her to church at least once to know that she has at least accepted God into her life.
Truly Happy

In church recently, I learned that the only way to be truly happy is to be right with God.  We may feel happy here and there, but to have a true joy in your heart every single day, is to be free of sin.  It's possible that we can be saved and have a beer, or say a cuss word, but we're not going to be happy.  Having salvation doesn't keep you from sin, all if does is bring God into your life, but it's up to us to determine what we do with our lives.
A lot of people are scared of God's will and they think they'll end up stuck in Africa as a missionary.  But we shouldn't be scared of God's plan, it's something we should strive for on a daily basis and if we keep on his path, then he will change the desires in our hearts and we'll have true happiness in our hearts.
