My thoughts are the same, I remember calling one of them a complete crackhead after one of those things. Really hurt his feelings, but I don't take kindly to being talked to like a kid, which is infinitely more offensive when you're 15.

My kids wont be attending them that's for sure. If anyone is going to talk to them about drugs, it'll be me.

I was like that for a while as well. With my having a small circle of friends that lived on the other side of town, I lead a rather dull life. But at least I could recite every episode of Dexters Lab back in the day. XD

This kind of thing happens fairly often. It's all "OMGWTF It's gonna make kids think that drugs are cool!" and all that. Which is utter BS.

It is kind of daft, but you wouldn't expect the R&D department of a company to do enough drugs to recognize a pack of drugs.

And leaving drugs lying around? Gah, I wonder how often THAT happens.

Actually, drugs have to have all known side-effects listed by law. If a side effect isn't listed, and it's a very common one, then the company could get in huge amounts of legal trouble. Ever wonder why even the simplest pill has this little mantra?

"Side effects may include headache, blurred vision, drowsiness, hyperactivity, philosophical understanding, viral infection, coughs, sore throat, fake breasts, irritability, subliminal messages, vomiting, diarrhea, hatred towards majorities, hallucinations, inability to function in bed, broken nails and insomnia."

When I hear that, I think I'd rather have a nasty rash.

You think that's bad? I could actually predict with 100% accuracy the nature of the next advert to come up on TV. Like an advert for dolls, pot noodle, or car insurance.

I need a life.

How much did the church help you in recovering?

I'm not religious at all, and neither was my best friends dad, who had a drinking problem and was on drugs all the time. But he decided to get himself clean again for the sake of his son. He turned devout Catholic, and followed the Bible and took every oath in the book. Result, he's off the drugs and a much better person than he was before.

So how well has religion helped you or a friend in recovering? Doesn't have to be just Christianity.

Don't put a question mark where God put a period.
Exercise daily. Walk with the Lord!
Forbidden fruits create many jams.
Give God what's right, not what's left!
Give Satan an inch and he'll be a ruler.
God loves everyone, but probably prefers "fruits of the spirit" over "religious nuts."
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
He who kneels before God can stand before anyone!
Kindness is difficult to give away because it keeps coming back.
Nothing ruins the truth like stretching it.
Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.
The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.
WARNING: Exposure to the Son may prevent burning!

I especially love the last one. That's really clever, even I could inspire someone with some of those lines, no matter what belief they follow.

I'll start passing these around, especially the last 4 ones.

If you're getting yourself off something as potent as cocaine, then it would be a lot smarter to take up rehab and wean yourself off it over a period of time. Just keep in mind that you might lose a chunk of your attention span once you're completely off it.

I'm not sure about withdrawal symptoms though, I don't really think that there are any.

It is pretty sad, but you're right, reason I gave up TV is because every show is a rerun, and when there is a new ep, it's been done before. Like Law and Order, all episodes are pretty much the same.

I remember it being spoofed on Robot Chicken, they had a whole episode condensed into 15 minutes and told via squawks and bagaahs and the trademark Dun-DUN from the series.

Now I can actually get some SLEEP these days, it takes me hours to fall asleep, it's just crazy you know?

From personal experience, edit buttons are more trouble than they're worth, it's too easy to offend a huge amount of people, and then edit your post to make them sound like the bad guys. I see it all the time.

Although, deleting posts would be a good feature to have.

How about we just skip the political correctness and just post as a recovering Jew/Islamic/Buddhist/whatever? I seriously doubt anyone would even raise an eyebrow to it.

And FYI, February is black history month, not march.

And in terms of my own faith, I'm a strict atheist.

Yeah, my dad tried those before, and they're really effective, even something as weak as a shandy will make you throw up all over the place. They're worth trying out if you really want to quit.

Just be careful not to take them prior to a party, in case you accidentally quaff down some spiked coke, and lose your lunch, and next years invite.

It has to be both of them, because I doubt that every person with a kid knows all the exact mechanics of sex and STDs and all that. There are some things that parents wont want to talk about, like contraceptives or homosexuality, because it's against their religion, like how Catholics are.

The schools don't have that problem, kids need to know all the facts, and no myths, no minced words. Just the facts.

One thing they don't put enough emphasis on is sexual etiquette.

Anything and everything has the potential for addiction, but what you say hardly makes you sound like an addict. You know when to turn it off, like when you're busy, and feeling weird, that might be a sign of a very mild addiction. Either that or you're in the habit of turning it on as soon as you boot the computer.

Killing your attention span? Please, try playing Xenosaga and see how long it takes you to wander, with a storyline like that, I doubt you'll stop playing.

Good job on getting yourself cleaned up, and you better stick to staying off drugs while you're at it.

Congratulations on it again, more people cured the better. No matter what.

He died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and antihistamines, commonly used as a cure for insomnia. He just took too many sedating drugs, and the combined effects killed him.

It's difficult to buy things online without leaving a paper trail, unless you have to mail cash, and that's extremely risky to do.

Also, one wee house in a ghetto starts getting 50 letters/day, they're getting investigated.

3. Ear phones generally do not help because most phones utilize the head set system as a antennae.
4. Every 5-15 seconds your cell phone checks into its tower, so whenever it does, your body gets a blast of microwaves 4 or 5 times per minute.
5. Benign tumors are on the rise and are expected to rise dramatically, within the next 5-10 years (most of them will be brain tumors).
6. Your portable phones have typical dangers if it operates in gigahertz frequencies.
7. When you are indoors or in your car, most cell phones are design to boost their signal strength as much as 5x to make the connection, if could even make your eye swell from the heat....

Shenanigans, that is a load of crap. I don't believe anything unless there is a citation from a reputable source. Eyes swelling from the heat? I think I'd notice something up with my eyes cause I'm using this phone every other hour.

No its not always the best way to go and as a child I suffered with eating disorders, I would put my fingers down my throat straight after my dinner just to look skinny, even though I wasnt even a size 6! now I am a size 10 and feel a lot better mentally and physically. My partner is always telling me to put a little more weight on and that is what I am trying to do as I also look withdrawn and shattered when I lose weight.

Aww, so sorry you went through this as a child. So much pressure is put on children to look a certain way and it makes me sick. I worry about this with my daughter daily (even though she is barely 6 years old). I am glad you are not purging anymore and feeling better .

Yeah, I never conformed to others back in my day, they could listen to the latest artists all they wanted but I listen who what I actually like. Good thing you don't want your daughter to go through that, kids are just cruel these days. Besides, people should conform to a standard of "Be who you want".
