Well it's the same situation for a teenager who decideds to abuse drugs, they know what's right and wrong and that they're probably hurting their loved ones.  But just because they're in late adulthood, it doesn't mean that they're more or less susceptible to taking drugs and becoming addicted.

Since you have a lot on your shoulders with school and everything, I think you should distract yourself with staying busy.  Try to think of other things before you fall asleep because we tend to dream about the last thing we think about before we fall asleep.  Also I'd try dating to get your mind off of him, meeting new people is always good and you may find the right guy in no time.

I remember one of my teachers would say "mmkay' after every sentence and it was soo annoying.  Eventually the whole class started saying it but she never caught on, it was so weird lol.

It seems like this was a very important time in your life, I think his story can be a motivation for his friends and a lot of people on this site.  Addiction robs people of thier lives, memories, money, friends, lots of things.  I hope you can remember your brother for the good in him, I'm so sorry for what happend.  My brother went through an addiction, he just recently decided to get sober, I don't know what would've happend if he hadn't made the decision.

What got me sober was my old self, the person I was before I started using drugs.  I remembered everything that made me, me and I strived to be like that again.  Drugs can make you numb to the outside world, they make you selfish and just not yourself.  The only thing I could get excited about were drugs.  Now I'm resourceful and a better version of myself.
