Bobby Brown's New Book

Bobby Brown wrote a new book called Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But, which talks about his marriage to Whitney Houston and their drug addiction. In the book he claims that his wife was responsible for addiction to both drugs and alcohol. He writes: "I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice. "At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine." As far as the marriage itself was concerned, he says he knew it "was doomed from the very beginning.” He explains: “Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow. I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married...I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children."

Smoking Gene?

New research has found a genetic link that determines people’s addiction to smoking and the risk of lung cancer for smokers and former smokers. With their findings, scientists are hoping that it could someday lead to a more specific screening test and make more customized treatments for smokers trying to quit. There were a total of three research teams, writing in the journal Nature and Nature Genetics, where each team found two key areas of variation on chromosome 15. The scientists studied the genes of more than 35,000 white people of European descent in Europe, Canada and the United States.

The gene variations govern nicotine receptors on cells and it explains why some people are chain smokers and have lung cancer. Current or former smokers who carry two copies of both variants, one from each parent - about 15 percent of the total - have a raised risk of 70-80 percent. Though the variants are common in the population - but they only raise lung cancer risk in those who have smoked. Those who carry one copy of each variant have a raised risk of around 28 percent. Smokers who do not have the variants are still more than 10 times more likely to get lung cancer than people who have never smoked, whose risk is less than 1 percent. In spite of the health risks and in spite of the growing stigma, one in five adults smoke and many try to quit. However the smoking rate among U.S. adults has dropped from 42 percent in 1965 to less than 21 percent now.

Just wait until she is ready to take you there. I know it is hard to wait for things like this and I know you want to be in the part of her life, but sometimes death takes years and years for people to be able to cope with. Give it time and if she still hasn't taken you there, ask again and if she still doesn't I would just drop it and I think she will come around eventually.

I bet that was a shock to see in your closet. I think that sometimes for healing it is better to get rid of things like that, but at the same time I don't think I would be able to give up something like that. It's so sad to lose people, especially in a war when you are expecting them to come home and that you would be able to one day see them again. At least you have the hopes to see him again when it's your time to pass.

1. Bring a packet-like the oatmeal packets

2. Eat with blue?-Research found that the color blue is a natural appetite suppressant. So get blue plates, napkins or placemats and see if it helps.

3. Snack on popcorn - it's mostly air, but more filling than a candy bar or peanuts and doesn't have many calories.

4. Eat alone-studies find you eat more when dining with others. If you eat with one person it increases 35% and 75% if you are dining at a table of four!

5. Trying eating with your nondominate hand-you'll eat slower

6. Listen to calm music while you eat-did you know it takes 20min for your brain to tell your stomach you are full?

I've heard this before. If you think about it, it's kind of sad. To fight one disease you can get another.

In the state of Oklahoma, they are spending $5.8 Billion dollars on addiction alone.  That is as much as it cost 3 years ago to run their entire state government. Here is a breakdown of the total amount spent:

*$1.4 billion-prevention. This includes treating addicts and locking up people who commit crimes because of their addiction.

*$4.4 billion-indirect costs of things like financial loss to society from premature deaths, school dropouts and imprisonment.

*Drug and alcohol addiction contributes to 85% of all homicides, 80% of all prison incarcerations, 75% of divorces, 65% of child abuse, 55% of domestic assaults, 50% of traffic fatalities, 35% of rapes and 33% of suicides.

Wow, that is a super high alcohol blood level. They should get jail time for that. It seems like more and more cities are taking extra precaution with drinking and driving to try and help stop it.
