LilaC said: Whatever doesn't kill you doesn't necessarily make you stronger.  You could put yourself through something your whole life.. like an abusive relationship or an addiction.  It might not kill you, and you may have survived it and managed it but still. In the end, doing drugs and being abused make you a weaker person.

doing drugs and recovering makes you stronger. You have more power more strength and your accomplished. "Stronger" doesn't have to mean in strength physically but could be strength within. You learn and you become stronger. Ofcourse being abused could make you weaker in so many ways and I totally agree with this but it can also make you stronger in some ways as well.Like the first quote said you deserve what you put up with. If your being abused dont put up with it and that will make you stronger. Kick the person abusing you out of your life and stay away form it. It will be touch but you could do it and that will make you so much stronger.

I've realised usually the people who do blame everything that happens to them on God, their situations last longer than the ones who dont blame it on him and just ask for his help. And I think that's God's way of telling them not to accuse him when he had nothing to do with it. this is the way I think of it. When I was younger and my sister and I would play on the gameboy, she'll lose and automatically blame me even if i wasn't saying a word and I didn't even move. I had nothing to do with it she lost all by herself. When people get theirselves caught up in messy situations its like losing on the gameboy they brought it upon themselves, and God had nothing to do with it.

I think a lot of people are just too impatient when it come to God. Everyone knows God is capable of everything and he has the power to do everything. So when we ask for his help we want it right away. And some people think that if it doesn't happen right away then God is not looking after us and it just wont happen but that's not true. God is never late, he is always on time. And his time his different than the time we want it to be.

This could be a good thing but at the same time a bad thing as well. People may think that this is a healthy way to drink and just keep drinking. Thats going to lead to even more drunk drivers, and lead to an addiction for them. It's not good to be addicted to anything even if its not as bad for you. wouldn't it still mess up your lives though?

There's so many other things he could've done for fun rather than go punch and kill a random older man. If he wanted to piss someone off so bad he could've done something alot more safe like maybe throw an egg or a water baloon. But to randomly punch him in the head when he did nothing to him. Thats just sad.

Have you noticed that smart kids are always brats and really hard to take care of? they could sometimes be so extremely shy infront of people but as soon as their in their own him they're rebelious and complete brats! My cousin is this way he's so so so smart. But he's always running around always talking back, he gets angry quickly. Even elementary school teachers agree on this.

I agree with jaslena. To change your going to have to create a whole new POSITIVE outlook on life. Your only 30 you've got your whole life ahead of you and its not too late for change. Your depression could be a big big factor of why your overweight. Also it could be genetic, a thyroid problem anything. Go to a doctor, talk to them about your goals to lose weight. Dont feel ashamed I think every doctor has seen someone much more overweight.Your doctor will teach you many safe and effective ways to lose weight. But its not going to come easy. Your going to have to work very hard for it.Also maybe you could be qualified to get a gastric bypass surgery. I knew a guy in high school with me who was also 300 lbs and got that surgery and now is really so thin that you would have never ever thought he suffered from a weight problem. Talk to your doctor and see.
Also keep getting support. From friends, family, online threads like these, even a therapist if you reeeeeallly want to. Dont be ashamed to hang out with friends who are thinner than you. They're not going to think of you any different I promise. I'm thin and I hang out with plenty of friends who are much bigger than me and I love them just the same and still think they are absolutely beautiful. The only thing that sucks is we cant share the same clothes, they have really cute clothes that I would love to borrow! :P But use your friends as motivation to lose weight.
Let us know how your doing and I really hope my advise helped a little.

Imagine the people who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from their work to support their addiction. Usually when you look at a person who suffers from a gambling addiction they dont look like they would be addicts at all. Addiction can affect even the most responsible and reliable people.

People usually go off of what they hear and the information they hear is usually very bias. You know usually most the people vote for the same people who their family votes for, what their teachers say, and their pastors. Why? Because they go along with what they hear, if your mom says Obama is bad, and you dad, then you probably think the same thing. If a teacher said that then they're probably going to give off their bias opinion and you'll probably side with them because its your teacher is teaching you. And your pastor ofcourse because you take your pastors advice for many things. But people need to do the research themselves so they can hear both sides and learn for themselves. People have different opinions than their families and teachers and pastors. They need to learn about their next leaders and what their plans are.

I agree his physical appearance shouldn't affect his ability to be a great mayor. But I also thing he should've postponed his surgery and new attire untill his term was over. Although people  from his town may support him, many many people from other towns and state will look down upon him because they're closed minded. And when he's mayor he doesn't just represent hisself he represents the his whole town too.

Some girls lose their virginities to someone who doesn't mean anything to them anyway, like a random guy they meet at a party, I think if a girl is just going to lose it like that anyway then she might as well sell it. But if a girl really has wanted to save it for a special person or the girl has strong religious and moral beliefs then thats like prostitution. and she shouldn't go through with it.

Alot of people who continued smoking because their parents smoked or someone in their family smoked stick to the same kind as well.

I can understand people going to church more during these hard times. Everyone spends more time with God when times are ruff and God helps them through it which in turn makes us feel so much closer to God. I wish most people would turn to just that instead of drugs and alcohol that dont help but just numb the pain for a few minutes.

you mean heroin is 10 time cheaper?
I remember a girl trying to sell my friend an oxycontin pill for $50. Imagine someone spending that much everyday to fuel an addiciton.

75th anniversary

Today is the 75th anniversary of the end of prohibition. Most people think that ending prohibition on alcohol was a good thing and that we benefit a lot from alcohol sales, by taxes and it is usually the high light of entertainment at parties and clubs. People now just don't seem to know how to have fun without it. Well what if the same were to happen with drugs. If this whole prohibition on marijuana ended, do you think 75 years from now we would think that it was a very smart decision and that we would benefit from it as well?

One of my friends is completely against abortion. If you were to talk to her about it and you were pro-choice she would yell at you and be so angry about just the thought of killing that innocent baby. But she was crazy in love with her boyfriend and she ended up getting pregnant. She took a blood test which verified it. Her boyfriend talked her into getting an abortion, she was completely against it at first but she loved him and didn't want to lose him so she agreed. They were both 19, and both come from extremely strict conservative families. She made an appointment at a planned parenthood to get an abortion but she had to do a few things before. They sat her down for just 15 minutes! And asked her a few questions just to make sure she was going to be mentally stable after the abortion. She passed, even though it was utterly obvious how badly she didn't want the abortion. They were still going to continue. They then just did a blood test to make sure her health was good, miraculously her blood test showed that she wasn't pregnant anymore. She lost the baby, she doesn't even know how. But she doesn't suffer from it at all. She said she was just glad it wasn't her taking away a babies life. God wanted it this way, so she is not bothered by it and rarely thinks of it. She also said that if she went through and had the abortion she doesn't think she would ever have gotten over it, and that afterwards all the love she had for her boyfriend would have faded away for making her do such a terrible thing. I can definitely see how abortion could affect you mentally, if not the next day then years later.

Personally I think once a relationship messes up that much there's nothing anyone can do to fix it. Sure the past is past, but it haunts your future no matter what. Them doing drugs together, him bringing her down, or the other way around. Their fights, him being in jail and her wanting a divorce all that. Through experience I've realized that once one messes up their relationship there's no way to fix it. Maybe time apart for a while could benefit but even then everyone remembers the past.

I saw on the news a person who claimed he lived in a trailer house, he had 2 trailer houses and one of them had 100 marijuana plants in it and 70 of them ready to be harvested!! I wonder how he got away with it that long. I'm sure people would be able to smell it in a trailer park much more than in a home!

danise said: The bad thing is many people who were raised like this think its OK to treat their kids the same way as well. My grandpa was pretty harsh with my mother. Not physically but the things hed say and prevent her from doing. My mother is not even half as close to how he was but she has some of his traits as well. She doesn't notice that she takes after him in some ways and that shes making the same mistakes. The way you raise your children will also be a lot like the way they raise their own.

This is true, because you learn mostly everything from your parents. Even if you notice, the way girls put on their makeup, its the same way as their mother puts it on and they use the same stuff. If your raised in a family that walks around barefoot in the house, you will be the same. But if you were raised in a family that would wear slippers as soon as they step out of the room then thats the way you are as well. So whatever way your family treated you, even if you swear on everything you will never be the same, there still be some traits that wont change.

I think that if he passing all of his drug tests then there is no reason to keep him out of the game. I'm sure he hasn't played for a while so wouldn't that count as his suspension. He should be monitored regularly and tested regularly to make sure his drug habits dont return. Playing the sport he loves is probably the most thing that will keep him off of drugs, its good for him. Also if he is a valuable player then its good for us as well!

I think it is wrong. She was a really good friend of yours and although she made terrible decisions like trying to kill herself at your house, she was sick, she was depressed. I dont think you should cut her out at all. Infact I think you should reconcile with her. It's already a waste that you lost all these years that you could've been friends, why waste more? Obviously you miss her since you still think of her so I really think you should give her a call.

I think once you learn how to have fun once or twice without drinking, you get used to it. So its to where you really don't need alcohol to have fun with the others around you at all. All of my friends drink except for me. I like to keep a drink with me, like a red bull or a soda while I'm at those parties just because when you don't have anything in your hand people notice more that your not drinking and keep trying to get you to drink. But all the people around me are so drunk and having fun that I feel like I can be just as crazy and they wont notice. I have just as much fun now sober as I would drunk. Honestly It's been soo long that I forgot the feeling of being drunk and it doesn't bother me at all. I have just as much fun as my drunk friends, pluss I feel better than them the next day :)
