I agree that addiction is a disease that is brought on by a person but I think what V4victory was trying to say was that once a person is addicted it is a disease and they aren't druggies and junkies as some people describe. People imagine that an addict, "could change if he wanted to" but thats not true at that point its formed into a disease and they cant. There's withdrawals mentally and physically and people think that these are minor that anyone can overcome it but they're not. Addictions to substances like heroin and alcohol, those withdrawals can be so severe as to kill a person. Thats when addiction is considered a disease and I think that that is what V4victory meant when she wrote this. Am I right?

Your really blessed to have survived your addiction and everything that goes along with it. All those friends of yours weren't as lucky. You should be thankful for that everyday of your life. As for coping with their deaths, I had an ex boyfriend who was really so sweet and nice but I thought of him more as just a friend, he died in a drunk driving accident and I was out of the country and never attended the funeral and still haven't even visited his grave. I dont want to either. I dont feel like he's dead, I feel like he's still there just living his own life and I just haven't heard from him in a while. I feel better thinking of it like that than actually having to cope with his death. It's been 3 years, and things still havent changed. Maybe you'll cope with your friends deaths the same way I did. I think its a blessing from God that I am able to cope with it this way.

These drugs are so dangerous for your body. He cant really have thought that he was going to stay healthy? Thats not possible, and as if these drugs wouldn't affect him. Especially meth, your intoxicating your body with household cleaning items. would anyone ever drink a cup of battery acid or drain fluid?? well thats pretty much what they're doing with meth. How is that not going to cause heart problems, lung problems all kinds of problems.

Imagine finding out that your elementary school teacher is addicted to child porn. And imagine what goes on in his life after this goes public. Jason Perkins was a former middle school teacher and has recently pleaded guilty to 10 counts of second degree exploitation of a minor.  He will spend 20 days in jail and five years on probation. He also must serve 16-20 months of suspended prison term and imposed imposed 60 months of supervised probation so that he can complete lengthy recovery programs. He must also serve 20 days of active time on the weekends. He must register as a sex offender and submit to random computer searches and complete the states sex offender control program. He will be allowed to be with his own two children and step son, but for the time of these hearings his step son had to be sent to a different state to stay with his biological father.

Most people who suffer from an eating disorder dont think twice about the harm they're putting their body through. I'm sure even diabetics are just keeping one goal in mind and thats getting thin. Its sad to know that they could be fataly harming their body.
Lindsay Lohan

There are concerns that Lindsay Lohan is suffering from an eating disorder. She’s denied that she was suffering from an eating disorder after dropping to a size zero 3 years ago. She’s recently lost 14 pounds and her friends who have seen her size 8-10 frame reduced to a tiny size 4. She is thinner than ever and they’re concerned she’s taking it too far. Friends say that Lindsay’s weight has always fluctuated but since falling in love with Samantha Ronson, who is naturally very slim, Lindsay seems desperate to lose more.
She insists that she has a healthy diet which includes “drinking buckets of green tea, eating fresh fruit smoothies with aloe Vera, sushi, pasta salad, and lots of green vegetables such as broccoli and spinach.” Do you guys think she’s covering up her eating disorder or the public is just exaggerating and making her seem like she has an eating problem when she really doesn’t?

My moms rules was that we had to eat a normal breakfast and a healthy lunch and a healthy dinner and we couldn't miss one. If we wanted snacks and sweets during the day she never limited us, but after 5 no sugar was allowed and if we were hungry after dinner only fruits were permitted and I think thats a perfect rule to have. Not me or my sister came out fat and now were used to this.

My family is the same way. Except the only sweet we were allowed to have after dinner was ice cream if we were watching a movie together. I think its good, basically they're keep us nutritioned with all the healthy food and that food keeps us full to where we dont have to eat junk food. But I also remember some households as a kid where the parents did not permit any soda or any candy and they would get mad if any was brought home. I think thats a bit too far, whenever those friends would come over my house they'd eat sooo much sweets and at school too. Sweets were like their drug and they wouldn't say no to it every chance they got. Its better to keep it balanced.

She is expected to keep her out of trouble. Her family has been enabling the cousin who is an alcoholic with a bad sense of judgement. One night after the bar closed, the alcoholic cousin took off in the car after she asked the responsible cousin to get her some cigarettes from the gas station. She ended up recking and totalling the car. The one who was to be blamed by the whole family was the responsible cousin. I don't think that is fair.

I dont think they should be letting this cousin out at all. She should be grounded or accompanied at all times untill she can control her drinking habits. If she's not responsible to take care of herself then she most definitely is not mature enough to be drinking.

Amy Winehouse has been rushed to the hospital for scans in fear that she is suffering another attack of emphysema, a disease that affected her earlier this year. A doctor came to her house in London and she was rushed to the clinic a little while later after her conditioned worsened. The center was the same place that she went for drug treatment. They said she’s worryingly thin and had very yellow teeth. I saw a picture of her and she looks extremely thin like she’s about to break and completely anorexic. The sad thing is she is only 25 and her teeth are falling out from all the drug use and she’s already damaged her health so much, been to jail so many things. How much has to happen to her till she realizes it’s enough and she needs to quit!

But I also remember parents that stand outside their kids classrooms about 15 minutes before its time to get out. I always thought those parents were crazy. They could wait out in the car their kids are in a safe environment.

I remember those parents too. A few would get worried having their kids walk 3 feet to the car without them. But some would just get there early and instead of waiting in the car would wait there. My mom used to wait for me right infront of the school where the teacher was and I'd just run off to her car everytime the bell rang. It's really pointless to sit and wait infront of the class.

Its like their sixth sense. My mom can always tell when I'm hiding something, or even when I'm bothered. I could be hiding it so well from the whole world but she can easily tell. ITs an amazing power they have. I got into a car accident once and my mom didn't even know about it, but she called at that very moment just to see if I was OK. She sensed something was wrong and something really was.

Its so sad to hear stories like this. Kids that are so young like 16 getting caught up in such hardcore drugs like crack, or heroin. Its really heartbreaking. They're on a path to nowhere and they dont even realize it. When adults speak to them about it they dont take anything into consideration and its sad. I wish there was a way to actually realize that these actions theyre making will ruin their lives before its too late.

This is a really good tactic. Usually when people lose a loved one they dont know what to do. They feel like their whole life fell apart. And they feel like the misery they're in wont ever go away. I hate that feeling.

Is there anyway you can bring her closer to you for a little while? My grandmother lives 4 hours away. Whenever I feel like I havent seen her for a while and I want to spend more than a weekend with her we bring her home with us and she spends a few weeks with us. That way it wont get in the way of school and work and youll be able to spend time with her. Itll mean the  world to her and itll be best for you also so you dont live with any regrets. I know thats wht I would do.

It’s really weird hearing about teens getting caught up with heroin; we didn’t have that in my high school. We had a majority of the students on marijuana and a few who did coke and crystal meth, but I really never heard of anyone doing heroin. Well I saw this story about a senior in high school that got pulled over on Saturday. The officer smelled marijuana in her car, a search of the vehicle found a small bag of heroin. She was then taken into custody and a female officer searched her and found 6 bags of heroin weighing 2.2 grams and 2 bags of marijuana weighing 1.2 grams. She was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a vehicle to store drugs, conspiracy, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. She was released on $5,500 bond. I wonder what was in her locker…

When does he get out of jail? And how long has he been in there for? I also read in that article that she is releasing her new album the day he gets out. I really hope she does get sober and change. She's ruied her life so much and her body can only go through so much. And like I said earlier she's only 25 she's young, its not good.
Red Ribbon Week

Red ribbon week was extremely big in my town. All the elementary schools got involved, and middle schools, and high schools. There were projects that we had to do which interacted with it. There were many speakers that came to the school, and rally’s which promoted being drug free. And every year they would hand out drug free bracelets. I was reading more about it and I never knew this but this campaign began to honor a drug enforcement agency officer who was kidnapped and murdered by a Mexican drug cartel in 1985. They’ve also recently changed their slogan due to the new prescription drug problem; the slogan is now, “No use of illegal drugs, no illegal use of legal drugs.”
They’ve created crime stoppers, where kids can call anonymously and report other students who have been doing drugs. They can also go online or text message. They’re trying to let them know that they are not being snitches but they’re doing the right thing and actually helping the other student. Students can also receive reward money for identifying drug activity.
Red ribbon week has changed a lot since I was in high school but I think it’s a great program and I really hope it’s affective enough to stop kids from doing drugs.

I think it would be cool to get hypnotized like once, just to see what its like. It's interesting how your mind can do that. I find that amazing. But I dont think I would ever become addicted to it. Its better to enjoy life not be phazed out of it.

Shows on TV make sex seem so normal. Like its a must in a relationship and its wrong. I was watching that show "What I like about you" And she was wondering if since she hasn't had sex with her new boyfriend whom she's been with for a month is wierd. And she was going to do it because she thought its long enough time to wait. I dont think that just because your in a relationship it means your supposed to have sex. Thats wrong. A relationship is supposed to be able having fun with a person being able to be yourself around them, being able to talk to them about anything, your aprtner becomes your best friend. You dont need to have sex to have a relationship but all these shows on TV are making it seem like its wierd if a person doesn't have sex.

I had a friend who was totally hooked on gambling. She went everyday for 2 months straight. she won and lost but quit before her habit destroyed her financially. But she didn't have to try to quit or go through all those stages. She just simply found a new hobby. Its not a great one but better than gambling I guess. Her new phase is clubbing, 5 nights a week shes at the club dancing.

I dont think I would trust this though because its not official its just on the internet. I mean I could easily create a site that says its a lottery and you could win 15  million dollars, a bunch of people will buy a ticket and I could just keep the money and make up a lotto winners name. I wouldn't trust internet lotto games. Just go to the gas station :)

OMG thats so sad about that russian woman! Steroids mess up your body so much. And it doesn't even look good. I think when wrestlers are all big like that it looks disgusting.
But soldiers are true heroes for going to these frightful wars, for risking their lives, an addiction everything. I also heard about that. My teacher told us about it a few years ago and what made it sadder was that his dad was on that 45 days 45 attack mission. He said his father told him everything about the war but thats one thing he left out. When it came out to the public that drugs were used he asked his father and his father told him how they made him swear an oath to never tell anyone. He was one of those addicts and recovered! Another reason to be a tremendous hero.
