It doesn't work??

Antidepressants are the most prescribed drug in the world. They are “happiness pills”. But a study in the UK shows that these drugs actually do not work. They tested about six different antidepressants, including Prozac and Seroxat. They conducted a meta-analysis of all 47 clinical trials and submitted it to FDA. The results showed that the results were effective only in a very small group of the most extremely depressed.
I don’t know I don’t really believe all this. Antidepressants have been used for so long and so many people that are on it do feel a lot happier so why is it just this study says that they don’t work? What do you guys think?

I doubt it makes you smarter but I remember my PE teachers used to tell me that exercising opens up your mind. And thats actually true, i had PE 1st period my senior year in high school and it would really wake me up and I'd be much more alert to everything not just school work. And I do try to go to the gym early mornings too to keep me awake but I'm too lazy hehe.

My cousin was like that when we were kids. He would wash his hands after everything, like every 10 minutes and he even developed a rash from it. I never thought that was possible but he did, after the rash he stopped and now he's normal, and washes his hands only when needed. He still has the habit of smelling them though.

In Springfield a state police trooper Daniel Kelly stopped a Chevrolet Blazer for a defective tail light this morning at 3:15 AM. Kelly first removed the passenger and found several bags of marijuana a scale and six packets of heroin in his possession. Inside the blazer they also found rounds for 9mm and .45 caliber weapons. The men in the car were both 26 years old. And since there was also heroin, and 15 grams of crack cocaine hidden in a baby seat they were charged with trafficking cocaine and violation of a drug free school zone. The driver was also charged with possession of ammunition without an FID card, and the passenger with possession of marijuana and heroin.
Wow they had quite a variety of drugs on them. This is what I don’t get, some people who are traveling with drugs or wanting to deal it or using it or I don’t know what are pretty dumb with getting caught with it. I had a ex-boyfriend who’s friend also got caught the same way, he was driving a stolen car with one broken headlight and had about an ounce of marijuana on him. He was also driving at 4:00 am, and ran a stop light. Wouldn’t cops at that time be so bored that they’d just pull anyone over? I don’t know I just think they could be much smarter about it.

Have you thought about rehab? or just therapy in general? Withdrawals are really hard to deal with.

I would join a support group if i was you and try to get someone to help you out at home or just everyday, like maybe a family member if they know about your addiction or a best friend. and research all the withdrawals symptoms you may experience so that you are ready for them Good luck let us know how you are doing :)

about 9 hours a day I'd say. But it doesn't cut into my social life at all. I still talk on the phone a lot and always text message and see my friends just as much.

Sometimes your just chemically addicted and your body just needs those drugs. But I heard it can also be genetic. But everyone deals with addiction differently, some people can use a certain drug over and over again and then get off of it easy, while others experience withdrawals and its very hard for them to quit.

I think your going to have to enter a rehabilitation center to help you out with withdrawals. If its head aches that your having then they are withdrawals. Your decision to quit is a very smart one and I think you should pull through with it. Sobriety is the best not just for you but everyone around you. Take the next step and call out for some help.

I was in psychology and we watched this video and I guess they made this machine that scans people as they walk by. If people are hiding something they are usually scared, and the blood rushes to their face. Also when people lie the blood rushes to their face, this machine can see all that. And basically can point out all the suspicious people. I think if that was there it would have caught this man right away and all the other people who have smuggled drugs. This would be a very good machine to have in airports.

Anyone else notice the sheer irony in someone telling people on an online forum that they want to get over an internet addiction? No offense, just making a joke, but just get something interesting in your life, like exploring or going out with friends.

haha that is true. But I guess if your going to spend so much time online you might as well get the help you need.
Jamaicamecrazy you should take a trip with your fiance, no computers, just you and him and realise that you can have fun without the internet! That'll be your first kick and then just start getting involved in other hobbies..

He already has relapsed, but you just need to work extra hard and have your family work with him too in keeping away from alcohol and not going back to the alcoholic he used to be.

Oxy Daizy

Prescription drugs are now the second most used drug among teens. The first is none other than marijuana. Teens are doing stimulants, barbiturates, and painkillers and they just don’t realize how addictive these pills could be. One 17 year old named Ryan shared his story. He is enrolled in a drug treatment clinic. He said he first tried OxyContin when he was 16 at a party. Kids would crush the pill up and snort it so they get hit with all the opiates at once. He said weed made him feel wierded out but OxyContin just made him feel good, warm and relaxed. And its super easy to get. He says there’s always someone who has it and that he could name 10 at the top of his head who are selling it.

But just a week after he started using OxyContin, he realized that if he didn’t get a pill every day or two he’d start to feel sick. So he kept using it and had how idea how bad he was hooked until he tried to stop. He said, “I was sick as a dog and I was in bed and I couldn’t believe it. I was actually scared. It was like somebody was inside of your head with a hammer, you feel like you’re going to die. Just laying there in the bed, sweat pouring off of you.. Then five minutes later you’re freezing.. Then you’d be throwing up.”

OxyContin is very expensive on the streets, $80 for one pill. Ryan cashed $7000 in savings bonds and sold his leather jacket, playstation, cell phone, everything he had to keep from getting sick. Then he finally broke down and asked his parents for help. But as he looks back on it he says he ddin’t think using OxyContin was dangerous because it was a prescription pill. And many different kids at school were playing around with it, kids from all sorts of groups, the burnouts, athletics kids, geniuses and girls who got soft ball scholarships all used it.

Isn't it against the law to be denied a hearing? He was 12 years old I'm sure he's learned his lesson by now, he's been living all his teen years which are supposed to be the best years of your life in a jail cell. I think he deserves to get a chance to get out early. And I'm sure he totally regrets killing his family. Even if he completely hated them.

I had to do a report about pornography for my English class. One story that totally made me so against porn was this…
“I am 13 years old. You could say that I am an average teenager, except for one fact.  I am a victim of pornography. When I was very small, my real Dad sexually abused me while he was watching a pornographic video. I lost my innocence to my real Dad when he chose to use me for his own self-fulfilling needs. The things he did to me happened while he watched pornography. What did I do to deserve this? I go through times of depression, confusion, anorexia and guilt. My Mom says that it was not my fault, but still I wonder – wasn't I good enough or perfect enough. I am finding that there are many others like me. People say there is no harm to pornography.  I say they are wrong. “
I cant believe anyone could every do this to their own child, like what the heck was he thinking? He just ruined his daughters life forever. After reading this I wrote my whole 12 page report on children and pornography, I really wish I had the power to stop this.

your withdrawals will last 3-5 days. They're not directly life threatening but they can cause severe diarrhea, and vomiting which can lead to potentially fatal dehydration. Drink a lot of water keep a water bottle with you at all times through out this. Have someone around you incase you do need to go to the hospital. Be careful, it will be tough but its totally worth it. Good luck!

I agree with carrie. Your not changing your self your being who you really are, when you are on drugs and alcohol thats not you its the drugs that make you act like that. At first it will be boring, its a big change, but you can live through it and who knows you may like this new person much better than the old one. And this is the safe and better way to live.

I think there should be a law that like if you wanted and haven't been found for 7 years but have completely changed into a much better person with proof of it, then you should be off the hook with just probation. It'll be helping out a lot of people. Like all those people who commited their crimes at a young young age, they could make a 180* turn in just a few years. I dont think they deserve to spend most of their lives in prison for something they did as a kid.

princess2008 said: I know this is for food but I will ask here about drinking too! So how many of you are actually drinking enough throughout the day and do you drink a lot of water.  I can go all day without having a drink whether its water, coke etc and its terrible, I keep promising to force myself but I just dont!

I do this too, I go a few days without drinking an actual cup of fluid. I'll eat a lot even soups but I can go quite a while without water. But then after that I'll start getting extremely thirsty and start needing water and I'll drink a few bottles every day for about a week to make up for it. My skin gets really bad when I dont drink a lot of water also.
