The problem I have seen is with people like my sister. She will spend money that she needs for bills on shoes. When she is depressed or just not feeling well, she will go an buy shoes. When she is bored she will buy shoes. When she is happy she buys shoes. She will buy shoes and risk having her electricity turned off.

Not that I am saying it is right or anything, but I wonder why the principal knew about the party and didn't do anything to stop it?

I usually eat about 3 meals most days and a snack in mid afternnon. It is a habit I got into while growing up, and now it is hard to break. I like ramen too but because of all the salt I limit the amount I eat.

From what I have heard, parental control software is also installed for free if you ask for it. Of course though, I am sure there are quite a few older kids that could probably hack right through that.
Instant Messengers

This does not really relate to internet addiction, but just a general internet question about all these instant messengers. Which one is the best one and why do you use that one? I know many will use the messenger that that majority of their friends use, but besides that, what features and functions make your primary IM messenger the best one for you?

Yeah, this is definitely one of the downsides of all the new technology. On the other hand though, if you have family that is a 1000 or more away, email, web cams, Skype, etc. are all cheap ways to still keep in touch.

I really wish it was a mandantory law for parents to go through parenting classes when the realize that they are pregnant. There are just too many ignorant parents in this world, and I wish passing a rigid parenting class would be a requirement for all. It won't ever happen probably, but it would be nice. Wow, 12 years old ? That is sickening.

I had a friend that posted in an online dream board that he kept having a dream of his brother trapped in water in New Orleans, and that a police officer was very rude to him when he went there to see what was going on, and that he couldn't find his brother anywhere. This was 4 months before Katrina hit when he had this dream. Luckily his brother turned out ok but he was indeed trapped in water for over an hour.

I have always heard rumours about a black cat being bad, but I never really bought into until I started having these dreams. I don't really think they are evil but it has me wondering now if bad luck is going to come my way.
Sleep Paralysis

On top of having dreams about black cats, I am now going through what I am told is sleep paralysis. It's like I am trying to wake up but I can't move anything on my body and it feels like I am not breathing either. Some people have said it has something to do with spirits holding you down, but I don't know that I buy that. Has anyone experienced this ?

All I know is that whether the 8 glasses a thing is a myth or true, that when I do drink lots of water I feel much better, more full, and I look better. So myth or not, I am going to continue to chug away on the water bottle.

Is there really even such thing as a hangover cure ? One thing I always hated about drinking was the hangovers the next day. But then it got to the point I was drinking so much that I was drinking the hangovers away too. That was a sure sign that I knew I needed to quit. But just curious about everyones home remedy for a hangover and it they actually work.

What do you do when you feel the cravings and urges to drink? How do you get your mind off not drinking? What usually works best ? I already know about AA and peer support, but are there any other techniques anyone can share ?

I definitely have a drinking problem, but I am in the steps of fighting it. I knew I had a problem when I kept getting cravings for an ice cold beer, and would irritated and downright mean if I did not get to drink. Also when I start, it is impossible to stop at just a few.

I don't need this test to tell me I have a drinking problem because I already know I do. I think it will really helpful to people that have an open mind, but unfortunately most people with alcohol problems do not think they have a problem and won't even bother with a test. Quite silly, but it happens all the time.

I have known a few moms that have taken care of their children quite well and was there for them more than the father, but because of the fact that she had a drinking problem, the fathers were granted custody. If that is not an incentive to get help then I don't know what is.

jaslena said: Goddess, why are you scared to tell your doctor that you're taking Lortabs?  I think it'd be best if  you let him know, because there's always health risks and side effects you may not know about.  I used to be hooked on 800 and 1000 mg Ibuprofens and Vicodin, but I got so sick of the side effects and I told my doctor and she helped me get off of them.  It's fun at first, but you're not thinking of the long term effects.  Are you planning on taking them for the next 50 years, you're better off quitting right now.

I think what Goddess was saying is that she is taking Loratab that her doctor prescribed but she doesn't want to let him know that she is taking it for anxiety for fear that he will not prescribe them anymore. From I know about Loratab, they are pain killers. I agree though, it is best to be upfront and honest now before it becomes a bigger problem.

What a scumbag. He rode off Whitney's coat tails when his career crashed, was in and out of jail for years on end, and now blames the mom of his kid. I hope his book fails if he is going into it with that attitude.

I used to smoke weed a lot in high school but luckily it wasn't my thing. However, drinking was and to me that is just as bad. I've tried cocaine once or twice but I was always afraid of taking it too far and never touched it again. I tried acid once and it tripped me out so bad that I would never touch it again.
Why some people stray and others don't

I have seen time and time again than there are some people in relationships that will stray and cheat on their partners no matter how good the relationship is. Then there are others that would never even think such a thing. I wonder why that is ? Is it an addiction to the high of a new partner? Is it morals or the way some are raised ? Just curious what everyones thoughts on this are.

What I find repulsive are the people who have an affair with a married person knowing damn well that they are married and still do it anyways. I don't care what you say about how you are not being fullfilled, how you are not being treated right, how you are abused etc. The fact of the matter is you are off limits until you sign those divorce papers. If it is really as bad as so many people claim, then they need to leave. There is legal aid to help those who cannot afford an attorney.

Wow, that's quite a list. What is sad is that I can think of at least one person that falls under each category. I tend to stay away from gambling as much as possible for fear that I will be sucked in rather quickly and not want to stop.
