I've been addicted to diet pills in the past, well I was also taking other drugs too and drinking... but I loved the comments I would get. I started getting noticed more at my school, and I couldn't get enough attention. After a while, I started feeling like my heart was skipping beats a lot, it was making me scared, so I stopped taking the diet pills and smoking, and after about 3 months, my heart felt back to normal. I couldn't believe it though, I could've gave myself some serious health issues.

A few of my friends have claimed in the past that their first drink was given to them by their parents. Binge drinking is becoming a community-wide problem in some areas and it's the parents and relatives to blame. We all know underage drinking is illegal, but why are some parents not applying it to the home environment?

Hey, your story is really great, it's a similar story to mine, but I'm sure mine involves a lot more drugs.. I've been clean though for 1 year!

I read a similar story about a man who lost over 80 pounds after taking it under the brand name Hoodoba. He seemed really happy, and he ended up getting married after dropping the weight. He didn't mention any health risks and the story was actually on the news as a success story, not slamming the drug of its side effects. All it really does is suppresses hunger, so what would be the side effects??

Your depression may be caused primarily by a chemical imbalance, when you're suspect to addictions, the 'happy chemicals' are depending on that substance to increase for you to experience joy. But once you abstain from all of that, it'll probably take some time to balance it out, or you may want to take some anti-depressants to help speed the process, and eventually ween yourself off.

I heard it takes 1/3 of the time the relationship lasted to get over someone. 3/4 seems like a very long time. But for some, it may be the case.... I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum though. I can get over an ex in a matter of days, I'll be sad here and there, but I don't feel like it's so much a good thing. I just got out of a very serious relationship that lasted 21/2 years... I'm still grieving though.. What's the best way to get over an ex? Lately I've just been hanging out with my friends non stop, and my best friend happend to move in with me about the same time it happend.. it's going okay.

LOl that's why I just don't eat fast food, I gave it up about a month ago. I've gotten slimmer and I feel way healthier. I used to be up to 1-2 fast food meals a day. It's weird how your body gets so used to it. Like if I have a bag of potato chips, my stomach hurts because it's not used to digesting all of that starch/fat.

Yeah, that's a scary situation when you start pawning off things just to gamble. I'm glad he made his decision early, it shows people that it's actually possible to walk away from an addiction.

It seems like porn is more accepted in our society. People may feel funny about discussing their finances, and if someone has a gambling addiction, then obviously they are struggling with money too.

Internet Addiction a Mental Disorder

Psychiatrists are proposing that Internet addiction be considered a mental disorder. I think they have good intentions, but it seems like they're just generalizing it too much. To me, there are a few different types of Internet disorders.... The government estimates 168,000 children will develop it and require psychotropic medications. In China, the Beijing Military Region puts the number of teenage pathological computer users at 10 million.
I'm not sure if categorizing Internet addiction in such a way will benefit addicts in any way. I think it might be too broad, like it should be broken up into genres: RSS, blackberries, gaming, forums...etc.

I think everyone suffers from a poor body image at one point in their life. But it's important to stay positive and not let yourself get so tangled up in the way you look. It has a lot to do with self esteem and confidence. But confidence doesn't have everything to do with how you look.

Well if her boyfriend drinks, that's a strong indication that she might try alcohol. Nearness is likeness no matter who you are. I think you just have to step it up and set your boundaries early. And it really shouldn't be an issue of what you did at her age, that doesn't justify anything. I really wish my parents were more strict with me because I learned how to push all of my limits and now I have a lot of regrets. But I promise you, she will thank you when she's older.
