IMHO, there are a lot of different causes to addiction from the chemical imbalance, to allergic reaction, to genetic predisposition, to coping, to identification. I think the trick is that how the problem is defined also defines the possibility of solutions. We each need to search with mindfulness and compassion.

IMHO, anger management is a good idea.

Better yet, most anger is a positive protective reaction to being hurt, learn to accept and express the hurt.

Better yet, most hurt comes from taking things personally, learn that its not all about you.

Have to agree.

We men aren't supposed to have problems, and can never admit them or ask for help if we do.

We tend to peer identify as teenager and never quite grow up and out of the addiction process.

But, its difficult for everyone.

But not as difficult as staying the same.

Yep, IMHO, men and women are different. Statement of fact, not judgment.

We (men) socialized and identify with different role models, therefore we are different. But, since it is learned (initally outisde to in), we can unlearn it and relearn it in a more effective and efficience way.

Once I quit identifying with my self-centered adolesence and started identifying with being a "Dad", I never looked back or had a relapse. Just wanted to give my sons a good role model. Sometimes my spiritual awakening is that it not all about me.
