His Story

I have a friend who joined the army two years ago. He came back home now for good with plenty of horrible stories to tell us. But one story that totally caught my attention more than all the rest was about a friend that he had made there. They were stationed together and roomed together. And basically the best friend he had while he was away. His friend couldn't stand seeing all these people dying in front of him and so many of the other soldiers dying that he actually shot himself. My friend still hasn't gotten over this and ofcourse out of all the soldiers that he saw die, this one haunts him the most.

Sad Story

I was reading this article that was so sad. It was about these parents that were discussing their sons death. Their son was a student at the University of Puget and always got good grades but was lately acting a little bit off. At times wired and sleepy at others. He was in the same Fraternity that his father was in and dated a girl from the same one that his mom was in.
And when one day his parents were waiting for him to come home with an armload of dirty laundry, instead a sheriff showed up at their doorstep. He told them that their son had been found dead in his room by one of his fraternity brothers. An autopsy later revealed he’d ingested a fatal amount of methadone four days before his 20th birthday. This completely did not fit his profile either.
Blonde and confident, he lit everyone up with his megawatt smile. Justin also got high on prescription drugs and had paid a Tacoma bartender "80 for 80", $80 for 80 milligrams of methadone.
It’s totally crazy how these prescription drugs that are meant to help are being abused and instead killing.

Your story is really great. I'm very glad you pulled through and sober again. Dont convince your self that you could drink or do even a tiny bit of drugs =P. What about your husband? has he stopped too? If you were my wife watching you quit would be more than enough motivation for me to wuit also.

Doctors and nurses bigger addicts!

Although nurses and doctors are supposed to be healers and not supposed to need help, they are not immune to the disease of addiction and may be even more vulnerable than the general population. One nurse said her drug of choice was crack cocaine, she would take it to help her through her 12-hour shift and then swallow sleeping pills to come back down. After about a year she turned her self in.
Up to about 15% of medical professionals will abuse drugs in some point in their lives, and they get worse addictions than normal people because they know more about the drug and give their selves higher grade. Some nurses admitted to forging prescriptions, others said some doctors were lenient on prescribing some for minor arthritis pains or back pains. Some nurses would write that a patient took two painkillers and pocket one. Or when a patient is sleeping just keep it to their selves. Its easy for them to get a hold of this.
This type of thing never crossed my mind that even doctors and nurses who know how bad these drugs are for them are also using them to get high! But my heart goes out to them because even though some people have addictions to prescription drugs like my self, I totally understand that their situation is much worse.

First Day

This is my first day admitting my problem and calling out for help. I've been abusing pain killers for the past year. Not a certain type but just any kind I can get a hold of. I dont really like muscle relaxers though. Those make me sleep too much. But I love the feeling that pain killers give me. And I can't go a day without them. I spend too much money on them since I buy them off the streets. I'm a very respected engineer and I shouldn't be doing this to my self and ruining my life. No one knows about my problem not even my girlfriend and I want to quit before anyone finds out. Can anyone give me some advice?

This experience may teach him, but it also is going to ruin him. That stays on  his record. I dont think any alcoholic should touch alcohol ever again after recovering. I dont believe in the "once an alcoholic always an alcoholic" phrase but I do believe that one shouldn't risk it.

Here in the US, hooka bar owners are required to wash out the tubes and put in new water with every customer.
I got a TB shot when I was younger so I dont have to worry about that. I'm all set to smoke =)

lol pills are not girly! I'm a man I take them and I'm addicted.
Maybe they just think it's safer, and they are more exposed to it than men.

Its hard to explain why its so good. I'm guessing its because it has serious things in it like deaths and diseases, and you get to see sort of what a surgeons life is like. Yet at the same time they have the whole entertaining love stories and crazy drama's that a soap opera has. Just watch a full episode I'm sure you'll get addicted too :)

Once you finish college, you should really think about writing a book about your life. It would be very interesting. You've been through so much that some cant even imagine, yet you made it through in such a perfect manner. I think You'll do great in life. Your really an inspiration.

I think it would help our economy if it were legalized. I mean we spend so much money on trying to stop it, what was it like $40 billion on stopping it? When it doesn't even cut it down. People will smoke no matter what. And although there are some mental issues it is better and safer than alcohol. Look at amsterdam, lol theyre fine :P
