I always thought it was the opposite way around. Like if you have a history of smoking in your family then you'd be
less
likely to develop health problems because you already have somewhat of an immunity and tolerance for cigarettes. But if you're the first person to start smoking, then you're putting a new, harmful poison in your body that you don't have any built up genes for. I'm not getting this from any source, but it's what I've always been told...

Does anyone here live somewhere that has a smoking ban? I'm not really sure what are the restrictions that this law prohibits. I know that there's a city in Colorado where it's illegal to smoke, is it like that? Or you're just not allowed to smoke in certain areas?

It's up to the parents to regulate who their kids look up to. My parents always told me how the real world is, what we do and say are so important. They taught me to have character and always do what was the right thing. Now, I see things with consequences. Having a role model like miley cyrus isn't going to do anything for me. I don't plan on being a pop star and even if I did, I would do things my way. Kids need to be reinforced and have real role models.

It's become a necessity to have a flat screen and cable tv. People are used to the channels and the quality of the image. I personally don't have a flat screen, yeah I want one, but I'm not going to skip paying bills or gas just to buy one.

Even people who aren't addicts get this little voice. I get it when I eat 2 pieces of pizza, my brain is like have another one, it was soo good!!! Then I end up eating 4 pieces and regretting it. But the cravings from drugs are a lot stronger and you will learn to not even notice them.

I've been asking and praying to God for a new car. I always thought that there's no way I'm going to get one so I should just stop dreaming. But after really listening to his word, he showed me that I don't have to live my life uncomfortable and wanting things. I don't want to live a pigeon hole life where I'm not using my resources and doing things for the sake of others and my happiness. So the lord provided a way to get a car for me really cheap and found someone to buy my car!
Also, my partner and I broke up recently and I was unhappy for so long, feeling like I couldn't make it on my own. Like I had to rely on them and I was forced to stay with them like the relationship was the only thing holding me together. But with the help of God I was strong enough to get out of that abusive relationship and my best friend came to live with me. It's been great because I have someone there to talk to and keep me company and they are religious too. My life has been a lot better and I feel like God is doing so many things for me because I have the desire to serve him.

I think you should support your dad and not put him in positions where you feel like you cannot trust him. You know he loves your kids, so take your kids to go visit him and make sure they're in his life. But maybe babysitting isn't the best place for him right now.

Hopefully this will give him a wake up call. No one should be in that state, especially as a cop. He needs to be ready for anything. I think his story will impact a lot of lives. Also, now that everyone knows what happend, he'll have a lot of people wanting to help him get sober.

I've never heard this term either, but it makes a little sense. Just like people have specific times when they like to smoke, alcoholics have certain times when they drink. Hopefully it's at the end of the day when they have no more driving to do. That'd be bad.

One of my buddies is quitting and he's been reminding me that he's quitting, I think it's for some extra motivation for himself. But I'm really proud of my boy, he's really determined. The hard part is that very last cigarette, but you have to be really strong about it you're right about that.

Wow I remember the whole dial up era. That was horrible for me, we have phone jacks in the most retarded places and I'd keep everyone up at night chatting too lol. I'm online for personal use probably about 2.5 hours a week.. roughly. I used to find so much pleasure in it but I think that was just a phase. I liked it because I could chat with people that I wouldn't normally talk to on the phone or at school because of distractions and hanging out with other people or wtv... but eh I don't really care anymore I'm so busy.

It seems like people just stop caring or they let themselves become this unpleasant version of themselves. If you loved someone so much at one point that you wanted to spent the rest of your life with them, then can't that feeling be reconnected? In a lot of marriages, one person lets themselves go.. that's not fair.

Teens are very impressionable. They're finding themselves and sometimes use unrealistic characters/people as their role models.

My mom used to work in a labratory at the basement of a hospital... with no windows! She said she hated it and couldn't stand not being able to look outside and see the sunlight. I don't think I'd want a job like that, it sounds horrible.
