A study has shown teens who use amphetamines such as "speed" and kick the habit should avoiding those drugs as adults. Researchers found increased addiction risks and heart risks. Those who had used amphetamines previously brains were sensitive to the drug. Some of that sensitivity was seen in brain areas related to the control of the heart. That could mean greater risk of addiction or heart attacks.

I really believe this. If you try drugs as a teenager, you know what you're in for and you won't be as scared to try them in the future. Hopefully with all of the awareness about amphetamines, preteens will be less likely to try them as teenagers and adults.

My friends dad is using drugs right now and he's been using for many years now. He keeps complaining about how his heart hurt and his doctors even told him that if he keeps doing drugs, he won't last much longer. He's using some form of amphetamine, I'm not sure if it's meth but it's definitely something like that. It's driving my friend crazy because his family isn't doing much... she lives in a different town and can't be of much help but still, even I'm really worried. She called to talk to him the other day and his step daughter said that he was crying because of the pain. I can't understand what his family is going through, but sometimes it takes drastic measure to get a loved one off of drugs.

Why doesn't he just go to the hospital by himself? You cannot seriously think that you're just going to do hard core drugs your entire life... your heart is going to give out eventually. It's really sad, but admitting and then recovery is the only way out of addiction.

These drugs are so dangerous for your body. He cant really have thought that he was going to stay healthy? Thats not possible, and as if these drugs wouldn't affect him. Especially meth, your intoxicating your body with household cleaning items. would anyone ever drink a cup of battery acid or drain fluid?? well thats pretty much what they're doing with meth. How is that not going to cause heart problems, lung problems all kinds of problems.
