I have always thought that underage drinking is perfectly
fine as long as the driver is sober, and the person does not drink too much. I’ve
always thought of this law as just a dumb excuse to try to make kids feel they
have no control over some things, and that they should just allow the drinking
age to be 16 so people stop getting sent to Juvenile hall. Underage drinking is
never going to stop, and a teenager who does not drink will usually be looked
down upon or thought of strangely.
But last Saturday, my usual party night, where my friends
and I drink have fun hit up a party and dance the night away went totally wrong
and made me have second thoughts about drinking, and realize why it’s so wrong
to drink underage. At about 11:30 at night gun shots went off at the party. It
was truly the scariest moment of my life I thought I was going to die. As we
were running off I saw the guy that shot the gun and he was just sitting on the
floor laughing. I danced with him earlier that night when he was a little
sober, but alcohol totally changed him. Adults have more control of their
selves when they drink, but kids are so wound up with being like everyone else
that they drink too much and lose control. I think underage drinking should be
taken more seriously by teens too, not just adults. Maybe if teenagers were told about stories like these it would help them stop. I know being in that situation made me stop and think, and I'm not ready to be in that situation again.
