Good news for a change,

My Dad has finally stopped gambling on Horses! After 50 years of betting nearly every day, he's decided the sport is so corrupt that there is no fun in it anymore.

Let's hope it lasts

Congratulation to your father it must have taken great determination to stop. I have thought that horse racing has been corrupt for years - what was the factor that tipped the balance for him?

50 years is a long time to be doing something and then just quit. Good for him and I also hope it lasts. I never really understood the purpose of horseracing or greyhound racing etc.

Wow, that is great for your father. It must have been such a big step for him and your family. In a recent conversation I had with a family member I was told that her other side of the family only knows how to drink, smoke and gamble. I couldn't but thinking how sad and what kind of life is that? I guess when you are raised and grow up in that kind of environment the habits are passed down from generation to generation.
