If you truly want to recover from your addiction, then you have to dedicate yourself to the task of recovery. You have to do the things you need to do even if you do not want to. Without the dedication you will fail and you will most likely go back to those things you are trying to recover from. What is your view on this?

I think this is very true. I dont even think recovery is at all possible if you dont have faith in quitting and are fully dedicated to it.

It seems like the dedication can slowly diminish over time. Setting goals and staying enthusiastic about recovering can be a big help. Also a strong group of supporters.

I've noticed that setting goals with a specific time, and writing them down also keeping it somewhere where your going to see it everyday. Like maybe in your car or in your wallet. It reminds you of it and keeps you optimistic. And encourages you to succeed.

Also talking to other people about your goals and plans can make a difference. I'm always telling my friends how I want to do good in school and get straight As. So people ask me all of the time, "How's school going??" And giving me advice about how to do better, and basically encouragement to keep doing well. Last year I made a goal to buy a new car, which is a big deal for someone my age. And I would think about it all the time, wish for a new car and talk about it with other people. So people would ask me, and I would get ideas about which car would be best for me. And I ended up waiting for a good deal and I'm so proud of myself for reaching my goal!

Goals keep you motivated and they make life a lot more interesting rather than living life day by day with nothing to look forward to but the weekend. Also that feeling you get once you've achieved your goal is unbelievably remarkable!
