Some people say that it is an addiction. I make that determination by the amount of time you are spending on each thing you do. If you are spending 6 hours a day checking email then yes, if you are spending 4 hours chatting to just anyone then maybe, but if your spending 6 hours online between all things. I would say that is no different then people coming home from work and watching TV/playing games on console/or chatting online for 6 hours.
The internet might be the choice you have. I watch news online, work online, chat with close personal friends online, and check email several times a day. Does that make me addicted? I think not, even though I am on the net more than 10 hours a day. It does not interfere with having a life, and when I have other things to do I do them.

Since you are aware there is a problem you now need to make a change before you are so far in that it is going to be very hard. When you have a desire to stay online, just log off and leave the room. Then you will slowly see a change in how much time you spend.

I think you can figure out whther its an addiction or not if you try staying away from it. Try not touching the computer for a few days and see if your able to. If you are with no problems then your probably not addicted but if its too hard then yepp your addicted.

When your not on the internet do you think about it a lot and do you think about going on it a lot? I knew I had a problem with internet when I took a cruise. It cost like $12 every 15 minutes just to get on the internet so I didn't get on it but it was soooo hard! I kept thinking about what emails Im missing who commented me on facebook things like that.

The internet is an amazing thing with so many places to visit. Its very beneficial to us and helps us out in various ways while also entertaining us. Anyone can spend hours on the internet and watch time fly by but we all need to make sure we dont keep that a habit. Too much of anything is bad. Limit your internet time to only a few hours a week, maybe even one a day. Dont let your self get caught up in an addiciton.
