I am clean and sober but there is always that little voice in the back of my head that could ruin it all. All the hard work and sacrifice of not only myself but everyone that help me through it all. I believe I'll be able to remain clean for the rest of my life but it's always there in the back of my head.

If being clean mean sanything to you that little voice will whiter away every time it comes up. This where your strength comes in. You have gotten through the hard part and thats getting clean.

Sure I'm past the hard part but it will always be in the back of my head. I know I'll be strong enough to fight it but that voice is always going to be there.

I dont think that will ever go away. But stay strong and you'll make it through. keep thinking about how all your hard work will go to waist and how much you really want to stay sober.

You could start to try to change that little voice into something you like to hear? Or just replace the drink in your mind with the image of another thing you like, but that is not an addiction :D

It's been said that once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. I think there will always be something in your head reminding you of what you really liked about it. Counteract those thoughts by reminding yourself of all the horrible things involved with drinking, and constantly remind yourself exactly why you quit.

I can imagine that voice staying forever. But as long as you have the will power to stay clean and sober I believe you can make it through forever :)

Every recovered addict has that voice in the back of their heads, but it doesn't mean you should ever listen to it. Its cravings, your mind still wants it because it liked it. But your body knows its bad for you and thats the aprt you need to listen to. Don't give in to the little voice and stay sober forever. Sobriety is the best feeling!

Even people who aren't addicts get this little voice.  I get it when I eat 2 pieces of pizza, my brain is like have another one, it was soo good!!!  Then I end up eating 4 pieces and regretting it.  But the cravings from drugs are a lot stronger and you will learn to not even notice them.

AJ is right, everyone gets these voices in side their heads, not just about drugs but about everything. you could be wanting to do something that you know is bad for you yet that voice keeps wanting to do it. You just need to have enough willpower to not listen to it
