To Start at the Beginning

I'm not sure that I am at rock bottom yet, but I know that I am in trouble. I cannot stop spending money. I buy the most useless things, or repeats of things that I already have. I don't need them but I can't stop myself buying them either.
I can't afford to do this. I am taking my family down, and as a single mother of a young toddler; she deserves better.
Where do I start?

You have decided that you have a problem that is the first start. Now you need to take actions to prevent spending. If you use credit cards freeze them in your freezer, then you will have to unthaw then in order to be used. If you have several start getting rid of the ones with the highest balances. What I mean is cut the card up so you cannot use it anymore to purchase, but keep paying on it. If it is cash you are spending, then stop going places that might entice you to spend. I know that boredom can cause a person to shop, but you need to take up some other activities instead.
