Do you go through stages like grief, denial, etc or it is just one long haul? I am assuming that there are atages and you just keep repeating till you get it right?

There are steps you need to take in order to get through addiction. Denial is a big hurdle for most as they don't want to admit they have a problem. Until they do admit it they will never be able to start the recovery. There are different stages of emotions you go through and it can be up and down in a matter of hours. I just took everything one day at a time.

There are stages in about everything. Recovery is no different. I suppose with different addictions, there may be extra steps. Just take it one day or hour at a time. You will make it.

Yeah.. everything has stages.

Realizing the problem, controlling emotions, starting with the solution ... everything is in stages.

But the first step... is of course the most difficult one to take.

I don't think that I ever went through denial but I did give up numerous amounts of times. I kept finding myself falling short everysingle time but I guess over time I forced myself to come to grips with it.

I believe that some people do go through those stages during their recovery process. Sometimes your addiction might have started because someone you were close to died and you turned in another direction instead of grieving. Many addictions start this way and so sometimes these things are needed to get the closure you need and for full recovery.

I think that that is apart of life, people fall short sometimes and thats just how it goes. But like you said as long as you pick yourself up you will be fine. I had a couple of times when I fell and had to start all the way over.
