Taking on several addictions at once

Taking on several addictions at once

I know that my addictions are nothing compared to other peoples. Meaning my measly music, soda, and family addictions are nothing really in comparison to the drugs and alcohol. But I do want to say that addressing many issues at once for me has become a big help in finding out who I want to be. I have solved the issues that caused the family thing to be bad and the soda things, just not going to happen. Every time I feel the need with those to do what I know will hurt me, I just make myself do something else.

Thanks for all the insight from you people here in the forum you have been a big help.

I would never think to do more than one at a time. As it simply does not work that well for many people. In fact from experience, I know that it is not recommended because of the stress that is already put on the body at the time you are recovering from one addiction.

I think I'll stick to one at a time too - cutting down on the donuts is first priority, every thing else can wait

I agree that tackling more than one addiction at once is too overwhelming. I never advise people to quit smoking the same week that they are detoxing off alcohol or heroin.

One hurdle at a time.

I really think people should tackle the most important addiction. You have to take one step at a time before you try to take over the world. If you attempt to do more than one addiction you may become overwhlmed to the point where you wont accomplish your goal.

Often in the case of smoking, alcohol and drugs, if you eliminate one of them like alcohol there can be a chance that you might be less likely to smoke. So it is may not be as difficult to stop smoking if you tackle one of the other ones first.
