Walking away from the TV
Walking away from the TV

I have a problem with my tv addiction, as I have mentioned elsewhere. My love for TV has alienated me from my family and children.
This past weekend I decided to substitute my time in front of the "old bube tube" with time for my family. We pulled out the monopoly one evening and then the other evening we went out for a walk then out to eat.
I must say, I found out more about my family then I ever had before. I didn't realize how much I was missing out. I am presently just in the beginning stage; but, at least, I know what it is I have to do.

It is amazing what we can learn and find out not only about others but about ourselves as well when we take the time to talk and listen. Playing with and building bonds with family members will help you all to learn. I am glad to see that you can make a difference in your own life. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, now you have to determine why you were wanting to spend so much time watching TV. Sometimes it is because you are bored, but for you it seems that you were so interested in other peoples lives. Now you can start spending that time on the lives of the people who really count.

I think we all could spend more time away from the tube and with our family. I know sometimes I just sit there in a fog when I should be doing other things. Great move though to play a game with the family

Thats good to know. I find with alot of technology these days, people forget about life itself. So we indulge ourselves in these things without giving time to our familes. The internet is another one of those luxuries that seem to take us away from everything we use to love to do outside the house. I think we should work on limiting our time when it comes to this world filled with nothing but technology and giving more time to our familes.
