It's almost 2am and I am about to take my sleeping pill. This will be the first night in two years that the bottle has not lulled me into sleep. So far I think the drugs are working as I don't feel too bad, but then it has only been 24 hours. We'll see what tomorrow brings eh?

The first few days always seem to be the hardest. Mainly because you're body is suffering withdrawals. Until the alcohol is completely out of your system you will continue to have these withdrawal symptoms. The good bew is this only usually lasts a few days and gets better as each day goes by. Hang in there. Use this forum, find an AA meeting, find someone you can talk to anytime day or night. Just remember to take it one day, or one hour if you need to, at a time.

Drying out at home is going to be really hard. You will need a really strong support system, and make sure that you are faithful with taking your meds, to the minute. If you don't things will get really bad.

And drink a LOT of water whilst you are going through this. Dehydration is one of the reasons that most alcoholics dry out in hospital.

How is it going SingleAgain? I was where you are not much than a week ago. You will get through it. I was in hospital personally, for four days, but it was no joyride when I got out either.

Hi First Night....hopefully you are past that and doing better. I have had multiple bad experiences with alcohol and have to quit myself. I have to make a major life change to do this and I am really scared to do this. I know I need to do this and hopefully I can stick to it this time.....it has become such a habit, I don't know how it will be this time. I can't stand AA. The meetings around here don't have many people I can relate to. I need to do this but how? I've tried Campral and it works real well...I just really think I need a lifestyle change here because I am surrounded by alcoholic drinkers who make me justify my drinking. I think I need to change jobs (I am in the mortgage sale field). Thanks for listening. Jewels
