Try and stop becoming addicted

The way you get addicted to something is by going back to it and doing it again, so if you took a cigarette for the first time and stopped your self from taking it the second it will stop you from getting addicted to it, it's obvious that it's better to give up on your second time instead of doing it way after when you feel that cigarettes are ruining your life, most people don't look at the effects at all of smoking but at the end they try and quit.

There's a saying that goes something like this "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results." I think this applies to addiction as well. We smoke that 2nd cigg or have that next drink because we expect we can control it. Looking at it that way I guess all us addicts are at least a little insane.

Prople seem to think that having one cigarette or using a drug once will not affect their life at all, they just say to themselfes: I'll never get addicted to this I just do it once and enjoy it. But things are not liek this , these drugs seem to have a huge impact on the subconscious, so the one in case will not be able to crontrol himself when lighting another cigarette, he'll just do it.

wouldn't it be better to just not do it anymore after your first time though?

You know that I wish it were as easy as you make it sound to stop. I am sure you are pretty close to correct when it comes to how some people start, but that is not always the case. Many people can become addicted to something after using only one time. This has been a shown proven fact.

Yes, when you do something and stop, you are not addicted anymore, but that is very hard to do, the right thing would be to slowly stop, always taking less and less until you are 100% free from that :}
