Sleeping too much

I think I am sleeping too much lately, I don't know if it is an addiction or I'm just tired. I arrived late at my work twice last week and once this week, it's weird as I go to bed early and all...

How long has this been going on for? because someitmes this happens to me but after a week I am fine and back to my normal sleeping habits. Maybe your body just needs the sleep

There could be many reasons, it may be because you havent had enough rest or you've been too stressed thinking of worries, etc. Sleep could be a way to get away from worries/probs but too much of this could also lead to laziness.. Try to have a regular exercise it boosts the endorphins in your body : )

That could be caused for several reasons, including stress or emotional problems, some people sleep a lot to forget what is going on with their lives for example...

I think that I have been sleeping way to much as well. I am not sure why, I might be a bit depressed with the winter blues or something of this nature.

I've realised when I'm sad or when I have a bunch of things on my mind I cant sleep at night and when I do fall asleep its about time to wake up for work. I stay so tired throughout the whole day and this isnt good.

Usually at night I make a point to call someone to talk to, usually my boyfriend or a close friend to just chat before laying down for sleep.  I've found that this helps deal with all of the thoughts bouncing around in my head.  Or sometimes I'll wait up for my mom when she gets home from work and we'll have a snack and talk about normal stuff or certain things that are bugging me, and I always fall asleep really easy after talking.  And reading especially helps, or after doing a couple hours of homework/studying.  Watching tv however doesn't help at all, in fact it keeps me up.  Last night I was watching tv until 11 and then I couldn't go to bed until 12:30!

Have you been eating enough? Usually when you dont eat enough your body gets its energy from sleeping. Thats why when you sleep too much you dont get too hungry.

Keep a healthy diet. And I say sleep as much as your body needs you to. It'll pass by when your body has had enough rest.

Lack of exercise may contribute to tiredness. Daily exercise gives you good natural energy =)

Dire this is so true!  I use to work out all of the time and within this past year I've stopped gradually and I have barely enough energy to get through a full work day!  This week though, I started going on bike rides, and walking my dog, even for just twenty minutes and I feel a lot better.  I try to go in the morning or at lunch time and I do feel like I have more energy!  It could be all in my head haha but oh well, I feel better. :p

Actually I'm the same way I go to the gym at 6 right after I get off work and by the time I finish I go home eat, play with my daughter and sit with my wife I'm exhausted by 1030. But its known that exercise helps you sleep better but you also cant exercise right before bed.

I think this is normal. Everyone goes through this. Your body just needs the sleep. Its not going to stay like this forever maybe for another week but that's about it. You'll be fine :)

This whole week I've been falling asleep at 9 and waking up so exhausted still! But I guess I slept so much that last night I couldn't fall asleep till 12. My body feels a lot better though.

Your body shouldn't need more than 8 hours a night. If you are sleeping a lot more than that a day you should really go see your doctor. This could be a sign of a health problem and needs to be checked especially if you are active during the day.

Actually everybody's bodies are different. Some people are perfectly fine with just 5 hours a night while otheres (like myself) are exhausted the next day if I dont get 10 hours a night. Your body is just set to a certain time that it has to sleep. I read once that mariah carey needs 14 hours every night!!

dannng 14 hours! she doesn't even work! whens the last concert or CD or anything she's had! she needs her energy to shop I guess :)
My little sister is 10 years old and sleeps just 7 hours a night! thats enough for her. For me I need about 9 to just function properly. But you know also how some people go to the army and they end up getting used to just 4 hours of sleep a night. I think your body could adapt to change like that.

hahaha too funny. I think everyone's sleeping hours can vary so is not that big of a deal. Some sleeps longer than others but does not get enough RIM sleep so it doesn't count for much. For me, I still need at least 7-8hrs a day, when I was back in rehab...mygod I was just so burned out and tired, I usually slept like Mariah haha.
