Its been 8 months since i dropped out of school and moved home to get sober. I was less than two months from graduation. Im moving back to long beach, where i attended college, in just a few days. Im excited to get back to school and finally graduate, but I am a little nervous about my life outside of school. All of my friends are still around and ofcoarse still partying hard.

Try not partying with your friends. hang out with them through out the day and make sure they understand that your trying to stay away from all that. Friends play a big role in abusing drugs and alcohol I've noticed that.

If you are so close to graduation, just make a pact with yourself not to hang out and party with your friends. Keep yourself busy by studying, going to movies, working out, etc; just anything that will keep your mind away from the alcohol. It will be touch but very worth it when you have that degree. I'm sure if your friends are true friends they will completely understand.

give your self a cerfew, that way you dont end up going out and partying like you used to. when its time to party do something else like go watch a movie, go out to dinner with a friend, or just stay home. yea it might be a bit boring at times but it will definately be worth it in the long run.

I am in a similar situation although my addiction is cocaine.  Last semester I was doing it every week, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.  I almost didn't pass my classes because I would be out doing stuff or just sitting at home, not wannting to study.  This semester, I made a decision not to touch the stuff and I've been focusing really hard and right now I have straight A's.  It's exciting when you see that studying and being sober can pay off.  It helped when I got my first test back, I got a 91% I was so happy.  I stopped hanging out with a lot of friends that did drugs because I was turning into them and I hated myself.

i use to do cocaine too. At first i thought it was OK because i just did it when i was at a big party and a bunch of other people were doing it, but before i knew it i was doing it any time of the day. I would even try to hide it from my friends that i usually did cocaine with because they didnt usually do it during the day. Its pretty easy not to do it when im never around it, and when i see the positive side effects of not using.
