Sometimes we have to change our location and those we know or associate with in order to get out of the rut that has enabled us to drink and drug. I know that when I go back to my hometown I see those who have remained there has basically gone nowhere with their lifes. In order for me to find my friends, I would have to go to the bars. It is better for me just to stay away from such people and remain alcohol and drug free.

I definitely agree on this one, often you need to get away to recover and find yourself especially if you are mixing in a group that are encouraging or are part of what you do either drugs or alcohol etc and then it makes it harder to stop, peer pressure or whatever else. I too had to get away but I also had to change my circle of friends and realise that no matter how much I loved them, in the long run they were damaging me and though it was tough it was for the better.
