Fewer Teen Smokers
Fewer Teen Smokers

As fewer teens are portrayed smoking in moves, then the less teens there are who actually smoke. I think this is something that a lot of people need to realize and try to monitor. I probably would be less likely to let my teenager see a movie where there are younger actors smoking. Teens are always going to want to model those celebrities who they admire. And smoking just isn't worth the risk to portray.

Celebrities smoking never actually influenced me. I watched various movies where the actors are getting high and all this stuff but that never made me want to do it. It was actually my friends who influenced me. Friends influence other friends.

There have actually been some movements from students, trying to ban smoking in teen movies. Apparently this could save 60,000 lives. Picture studios owned by six major companies have delivered 275 billion "toxic tobacco impressions" to movie viewers over the last 10 years.

Even though this post was started in 2009 (and now it is 2011) there has been a decrease in teenager smoking. They made a big push in advertising, saw less in movies, and, with the recession, kids couldn't afford them!

you are right teens are always inspire from celebrities. But if they seen such celebrities are smoking or taking alcohol they they are also try this without knowing anybody. It is better that do not show the smokers which will affects the mind of teens. Smoking is injurious to health.
